| Well if it's his baby teeth it is. When they are puppies it's best if they come out on their own, because if not they have to go in and take them out.

| Dogs are just like people in that they have baby teeth that will fall out and are replaced with adult teeth. Your puppy's teeth are just like a baby, they will fall out and be replaced by adult teeth. Yorkies are know to retain baby teeth and if they do not come out on their own by the time they are spayed/neutered they should be removed to prevent decay of the adult teeth. Most pups have at least one baby tooth that is retained but can be easily removed during their spay. Because of their small mouths you need to have good oral hygiene practices and it is best that you start as a puppy to brush their teeth. It is also advisable to follow your vets advice regarding having dentals done. With their small mouths many have issues with tartar build up that can lead to decay and tooth lose as they get older.

| Thanks, good to know! I will start brushing his teeth as soon as he arrives, I wouldn't want dental problems..I am so nervous about doing what is right for the puppy, I'm driving myself nuts! |

| Baxter spit 3 of his out in my hand. Not at one time but it still freaked me out every time he did it. He only had to have one removed by the vet. Good luck with the puppy. |

| My 17 wk old puppy lost 3 teeth in one night. Is it normal for them to loose teeth so quickly? Another concern of mine after reading this thread is that since he was from a shelter he was nuetered a little early so he could be adopted but he still has all baby teeth (other than the 3 teeth that are just now coming in). Should I try to wait it out a bit or call the vet? |

| Thanks I have really enjoyed him so far. . . just wish he'd take to the leash a little quicker. Thank you for the info as well. I'm not extremely worried about losing teeth. . . just wanted to make sure it was normal. I've never raised a dog from puppy stages so it is all new to me.
