Yorkie Yakker | please eat something DOLCEEEeeeEEEee ! almost....totally confused :S hello from Istanbul everyone 3 days ago we picked up our little puppy DOLCE (4 months old) Since then I have looked at sooOOOoooo many sites ...and honestly I'm not sure what to do and not to do. Reading through peoples comments and advice here gave me a good feeling. And I thought that this is where I should come and get the advice I need. I'm glad to hear that Zoe is ok now As I mentioned DOLCE is 4 months and has been with us for 3 days. We continued the same feed and he was eating in the pet shop from where we purchased him 'PURİNA PRO PLAN for puppies (salmon)' (about 1 1/2 table spoons). He ate his 3 meals on his first day with a couple of small treats in between. However on the second day he would not touch his food....but he would accept his treats !!!???? I decided to modify his feed with another flavor..this time lamb PRO-PLAN and added a little chicken to it with a tiny bit of parmesan cheese!!!!! NOTHİNG Then I tried a new batch this time...1/2 lamb PRO-PLAN and 1/2 canned puppy food......and.....he ate about a small tea spoon amount of it....a llittle more from my finger. I also stopped the treats cause I thought that maybe he was getting too used to it and I was over doing it with the treats. I also give him DUO-JUNİOR multi-vitamin once a day. I would really like to know how much should he be given for each feed...am I giving him too much and expected to much from him? The next question :S he was born on the 10th Jan according to his vac certificate he was given Eurican DHPPP on the 1st of March and then Eurican DHPPP-L and DHPPI - L on the 20th of march. So between the 20th and now he has not had any futher shots......when should we get his next shot? The VETS here are telling me different things and I don't feel confident with any of the info...... I have a maltese back home in Australia and I never came across this with her (I miss her sooOOOoooOOOo much ) in the 9 years I had her with me.....and Mum has never had any challenges with her. I'm sorta worried that even with the research I did before adopting Dolce that I may not be doing the right things :S We play alot...and he runs around alot......and then I read not to do this cause of hypoglycemia and sugar levels..... Or should I relax a bit? Cause I'M really not enjoying this experience.......we are sooOOOooo glad to have him in our home. OK that's it ...sorry if it was a bit long :P thanks |

| Not all babies go for the change from their homes from birth to a new home.. that could be some of it.. Have you taken him to a vet for his first check up..important to make sure all is ok.. is his stool normal.. has he been dewormed...???? Also do not change up his food too much or he will get upset stomach and possible soft stool or worse runny.. You could be just worried and expect him to eat more then what he is needing also..you can use karo syrup a little on your finger tips this might give him the appetite that is needed.. How much does baby weigh at what age..???? Playing with a baby if he is eating should not cause you any problems.. I can try to help but tomorrow many more with even more experience could check your thread.. |

| Also, I would get him off Purina asap. It's really a terrible food. By-products, corn gluten meal, etc are some of the terrible ingredients. Some of the better foods are Wellness, Merrick, Innova, Solid Gold, etc. A good diet really helps a lot In order to get him to eat, have you tried mixing in some wet food with the dry?

I'm a little upset to hear about PURİNA...after having spent so much on 2 bags of it for the next 6 months. how does this sorta product get on the market? And these by-products.....what complications do they cause ? We live in Istanbul and it seems that Purina has the biggest part of the market here. Well thank you so much for the advice will have to make some changes soon then a big thank you lick from Dolce | |

| When we first brought Lexi home she was a terrible eater. She did have a couple episodes of hypoglycemia so after that I did give her a little Nutri cal puppy (or Karo syrup) on my finger twice a day. It did help boost her appetite and prevented another low sugar. Have the vet check to see for teething. We did moisten the kibble during teething. Good luck! Oh and I love the name Dolce! |
