| Halo food & fiber Halo has the highest fiber 6.5% without a prescription that I can find. Does anyone know of something with more fiber. My yorkie has anal gland issues and I want to increase his fiber. Natural Dog Food and Products from Halo

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | i don't know of any food with fiber like that. halo is a pretty good food but if you didn't want to switch brands you could just add metamucil to his regular dog food every day.

| I've read other YT'ers doing well on Halo. My girl loved eating it too. But her stool became as light a shade as the Halo kibbles are, maybe lighter after a while of being on it--she also has another food she's on as a main dish that she's good on so far. She started getting lightly smelly gas again which she hasn't had since EVO and raw/boiled chicken. Her stool was also getting to be more soft and clingy messy. Once she stopped getting Halo, she was producing good poop again. Dark and not too hard/dry but just nicely firm and a good clean pick up. Also lost the gas issue again. I had replaced the Halo portion of her diet with a line of Fromm's Whitefish kibble formula though this one has grains, I hope they're good grains. I think the smelly gas was from the bit of chicken in the Halo Wild Salmon formula, but I can't say for sure. She's also gone back to two poopings a day rather than the three it had become on most days. I guess our dogs just react differently to some foods. I think adding supplements for the fiber is a great idea too. |

| Not sure that you only need to look at the fiber %. Sometimes either soluble or insoluble is preferred above the other. What you are looking to do? Produce more bowel movements?

| If your pup is just producing soft stools, you may want to try and add a little bit of canned pumpkin( make sure it's not the pie filling) to the food for added fiber. It helped mine. You may need to look up the recommended amount to feed....I can't accurately recall the right amount. |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | Romeo had an anal mass removed and to prevent future problems he needs fiber added to his diet to makes things move out easier i believe

Insoluble should move things along but the % of fiber in the food wouldn't tell use which type, so I guess we need to see ingredients.

Thor's Human Donating Member | I feed Thor Halo. He doesn't love it, but he eats more of it than any other kibble we've tried. If you want to go simple, just give your pup a couple beans every meal or two. You could also add some green beans or carrots.

| Benefiber My vet recommends Benefiber because it has not taste! So I just sprinkle it into my Bichon's food when i feed her! She also has anal gland issues.
