| Supermarket Food...??? I've noticed a few new foods in the pet food aisle at my local Publix supermarket. Some are new brands [ie Rachael Ray Nutrish], and some are new lines carried under an old brand [Chef Michaels' by Purina]. What I want to know is.....is there any supermarket brand, that is suitable for a yorkie? I have Garrett on Merrick wet & dry, and he does quite well on it, he also gets a 'home-cooked' meal once or twice a week. My problem is that the closest store that sells Merrick and other top brands is really not so close to me . So I was hoping I could change him to one that I could just pick up at the supermarket around the corner. I'm not gonna compromise his health for convenience, I was just hoping to make life a little easier. Thanx...

Have you considered buying the food online? I don't do this personally but have talked with people who find it can be the same price or lower when bought online.

Do you have a Whole Foods near you? They are a supermarket. They carry Wellness dog food--at least my local one does. That might be a good option for you. I know people here use Merrick products so maybe their food is safe, but Rachel Ray's food definitely is not, and I thought I read someone mention that Walmart was discontinue carrying it even. Do not touch her dog food line. Last edited by Miao; 05-03-2009 at 07:44 AM.

The store I buy from was close to where i worked and my daughter's school, however, I'm not working right now, and my daughter rides to & from school with her friend. So I'm hardly in that area anymore. Anyway, I'm gonna do what I have to do furbaby comes first right

Might they also carry Dick Van Patten's Natural Balance? Seems quite a few YT'ers' yorkies do well on that one, especially their Limited Ingredient Diet line of kibbles. In case Wellness doesn't work out for you. They are both popular on here so I guess you can see which one your little one does better on. Some produce more poop than others and may vary by dog and food combo. LOL.

Wellness and Merrick are rated the same I believe, which is a 6 with 6 being the highest. There is a link, which I don't remember, which lists premium dog foods on a rating system. I can't find Merrick kibble here but I have my girls on Wellness Just for Puppies and they do very well on it plus they both like it. I think when you do your search you will be satisfied with Wellness.
