| Help! My yorkie doesnt want to eat! My 2 year old yorkie, Charlie, doesn't want to eat his food. Over the past couple weeks its gotten more and more difficult to get him to eat, I had to spoon feed him (literally) yesterday and this morning. I feed them really high quality food, its called Verve and its dehydrated human grade food (heres a link to what I feed them both, my girl loves it and he used to eat it to, but always less enthusiastically then she would/does: Organic Dog Food, Human Grade Dog Food – The Honest Kitchen) He still has lots of energy, plays with Chloe lots, and has a normal stool so I dont think hes sick. He has always been more of a picky eater than Chloe but now he just sits and looks at his food. My boyfriend says Charlie eats like a cat (cause he eats really slow and nibbles at his food) whereas Chloe gulps down her food in less than a minute, and tries to eat Charlies food (we have to restrain her, and sometimes put her in a different room) I am thinking of giving him a different brand, cause I notice when I change the flavor he eats more quickly..but I am not sure if thats it, I cant keep just changing the brand every time he gets tired of the flavor.. What should i do? |

| Hi! We're in NY too. Our 7 year old Francie was so picky, spoon feeding, etc... Literally had to play with a ball to eat. Went through many foods, at about 5 it changed. Oft times she would throw up too our vet suggested that the Wellness brand she was on was too rich even though it was good. She's on Solid Gold now and we can get her to stop! Without the ball too! They will not starve unless something else is wrong. Have you been to the vet? Sometimes we put a bit of low sodium organic chicken broth in instead of water it does wonders. We now have a little on 16 month and he loves both her food and his, so now its the opposite prediciment. LOL! Not a big beliver in wet food as it played a role in Francies teeth worsening over the years. I'd gradually try some other brands. Any good shop will give you samples. Good Luck and hang in there it will get better! |

| Do you feed your dogs together? If Chloe is an energetic eater that may encourage him to actually eat. In my experience I have found that a little food competition is quite healthy. Chances are that Chloe will eat his share of the food a few times but Charlie will get the message that if he doesn't eat it she will. To up the ante I would add something really yummy to it like pureed (cooked) liver, chicken or some cottage cheese. As long as he is not getting too thin or showing signs of illness he'll be fine Sometimes I think they get a hoot out of testing our patience |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I agree Cali was a picky eater and now with the 3 they eat like they are starved. I feed all 3 right next to each other and they do fine.

| When it's feeding time, I have to sit between Mimi & Momo. Otherwise, Momo will devour his food (even if he's not done w/his food) & rush over to Mimi's & steal her food. She eats very slow, like she's enjoying every morsel. Such a princess. She is also very finicky...she'll eat good for a week & not want to eat for days & worry mommy to death! I've switched foods countless times, but she's doing well on NB Venison & SP. I still have to 'mix' something in it tho ~ whether it be plain boiled chicken breast, plain salmon, unsalted scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, anything to get her to eat. She'll turn her nose on it after a week...time to switch to something else yummie. Such a Princess.
