| Is Eagle Pack good? I just got some Eagle Pack Holistic Select Puppy Food samples in the mail and fed Bailey a couple pieces and she LOVED it. She has been on Eukanuba and I want to switch her to something better. I really wanted her on Wellness, but she wouldn't eat it. So after we had success with this one, I looked for it on the dog food analysis site and it was not recommended. That confused me because I thought all the foods on that free sample list were premium foods. So is it worth switching her to it or should I pick something else? She also liked the Chicken Soup.

| I've personally never used it, but I know other members on here do and I've always heard great things about this food. I think it's a great choice especially if your little one likes it! |

| I don't know if it is on the recommended list but I've been using it for almost 2 years now and am very pleased. All 5 of my dogs have been very healthy since I began using it |

Now my problem is going to be trying to transition her slowly...earlier her treat ball spilled one piece of the Eagle Pack and one piece of Eukanuba. She looked at the Eukanuba and went straight for the Eagle Pack instead. Haha.

| We just switched to Eagle Pack Holistic this week and I am loving it already. We have tried all sorts of "recommended foods" Wellness, Canidae, Natures Variety, Natural Balance and one dog will do good on it and the other won't so I have been searching for the food they can both eat and do well on. Bella does not do well with any of the foods containing fish so I have to avoid that. With Canidae they were both doing well but talk about stinky poop, you could smell it from anywhere. Natures variety they treated like a dead animal and rolled around in it first. Natural Balance they seemed to poop alot, and the stools were not always consistant. I still like Wellness but from the time we started feeding it till the time we quite feeding it a 30 lb bag (we have a large dog also) went up by 20.00 a bag and I got annoyed, the price increased occured when Petco started sellling it. So far with the eagle pack everyone has nice hard poop and it does not stink to high heaven, they also seem to be satisfied on less food also which a great. If I encounter any issues I will let you know.

| I did decide to switch her to the Eagle Pack, and I started switching her using the sample bags I had. But now I'm nervous because I'm having trouble finding it! The one they sent is a puppy small breed formula in a pink bag. I could only find a brown bag that said puppies and adults and had very different ingredients. Didn't want to pay $18 for it and risk that she wouldn't like it. I wish it was easier to find!

| Just a heads up..... A boutique owner I know said the Eagle Pack company has been sold and the new owner is making "drastic" (her words) changes to the recipe. She told everyone to carefully check the ingredients in the new formula. She no longer considers it a premium food and will not carry it in her store in the future. |

I would be surprised if a new owner made dramatic changes because they know they would loose thier market share

One of the Cocquyt brothers (the family who founded the company Mishawaka, Indiana in 1970) died a couple years ago and Eagle Pack was sold to Berwind Corporation in 2007. They also own Elmer's Glue Products. They have recently acquired Old Mother Hubbard/Wellness, too. The planned change in the recipe is "insider information" from a retailer who carries Eagle Pack. It hasn't happened yet, but she warned everyone to be aware and check the label in the near future. The Great Dane Lady no longer endorses Eagle Pack: "Eagle Pack was acquired by Berwind Industries in 2007. Wellness was acquired by Berwind in 2008 and the two companies were merge into a single entity called WellPet LLC. Regrettably, due to changes in management, style of management, removal of key personnel, stopping overseas distribution of Eagle, and deep philosophical differences, I can no longer endorse nor feed the Eagle Pet Food product line." food for great danes dogs| GREATDANELADY.COM | |
