| Yes, I would think it would be, also it would if it were to get in its eyes, it would be horribly painful. If you don't want to get a puppy shampoo then perhaps use a mild baby shampoo at a weak solution. Then rinse and rinse and rinse again!!! Personally, I would think a puppy shampoo is not that expensive, they have a some good ones at Wal-mart and Target and look at the Petsmart and Petco too. They have the kind that won't hurt their eyes as much just as they do for children's shampoo. I believe Dawn is what they used to get oil off of the shore and water birds when the oil tankers leaked oil into the oceans and beaches. Good advertisement to show how well they cut grease! So if your puppy gets into an oil slick, Dawn may be the way to go, but invest in a gentle puppy shampoo, you'll both be happier Oh, and always rinse really, really well |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | I've heard that some people it for fleas; I wouldn't use it on a puppy skin. You might not see problems right away, but you will down the line. Even human shampoo's including baby shampoo are too harsh for a dog's skin , as they have a different pH, and need a product formulated for their skin. Some people use human shampoos as well, and report no problems, but others have reported problems after using them for a time. You need to remember that skin problems are much easier to prevent than treat. Once they have a dry skin problem it can be very difficult to treat, and it can lead to itching and secondary infections. I love the Biogroom products, and they are very concentrated, so aren't as costly as they first seem. You can also get a free sample of the products, if you e-mail the Biogroom Company, just click on "Contact us." Bio-Groom - Exceptional Pet Care Products for Over 30 Years Also Target has some inexpensive dog shampoos.

| It's EXCELLENT for the treatment of flea removal. But, on puppies I'd be very hesitant to use it on them... |

| I am like you I think it is harsh, but thats what my vet said to use til they 3 lbs. I like to take my babies in the front yard to play, but I can't cause of ticks and fleas. Did it once and they got ticks. I need something safe for my 1.4lb yorkie pup. She is 4mths. old. They want to go out so bad. I feel bad for them

Also, as nancy said, human shampoos are NOT good for pups, and the only thing I would use dawn for is if there was a flea on the pup, not for bathing though. Check with your vet on something to put on your babies | |
