| Reverse sneezing? Or Something Worse I am uncertain as to what I am hearing Suzi do, and need you guys to help me. This has happend several times over the last couple of months. Out of the blue I hear what it sounds like snorting sounds. She is loud too. Early this morning it happened again, and she woke me up. I was scared for her. She recovered quickly though. Can somebody tell me wht reversve sneezing sounds like? I was not certain if she was choking or what? Constricted airway?

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | its hard to describe the sound without actually performing the sound for you. can you possibly get a video of Suzi making the noise? a reverse sneeze is harmless and usually only lasts a few seconds. if its upsetting to you or the dog, or it is lasting a little longer you can try putting your finger over her nose to make her breath out of her mouth. or you can try giving her a treat, the chewing motion usually stops the noise.

| Momo makes those sounds quite often. He snorts, & it sounds like he's gagging at the same time...it scares me too! My vet said it's allergies (I took a video in) & sometimes I notice he does it too when his long face hair is in his mouth...itching his throat. This guy is a Yorkie roomba...my hair comes out of his poop! I also notice that his toy ball would get dust & hair on it cuz he slobbers all over it...& he loves squeeking his toy balls! He would make those sounds afterwards. Kellie has a good suggestion, I cover Momo's nose w/my fingers & he stops. I've got to try the treats...I also heard that some dogs will purposely make those noises to get attention...smart wittle stinkers.

| Yes, the video helped so much. Sparkey made me cry though.... This is exactly what my Suzi sounds like... KInd of reminds me of a piggy snorting .Even hearing Sparky made me feel badly though. At least now i know it is harmless to the toy breeds and common. Thank you for taking the time to put it on here . Cathy

| Hi, are you worried about your baby having a collapsed trachea? My one baby girl was making a noise and I couldn't figure out if she had a CT or if she was doing the reverse sneezing. We had an x-ray done and thank goodness she does not have a CT. If your still concerned maybe you could have one done too. I hope everything's alright with your baby.

| Oh, wow.. I think this is what my mom's dog does sometimes. She will make that awful sound and we never knew what it was... it lasts about as long as Sparkey's, maybe a tiny bit longer... and sounds awful.

| My Yorkie makes a sound that is quieter than the noise the maltese made in the video above. It's like a cough/sneeze/hiccup/choke sound that lasts only a few seconds. Do collapsed trachea and reverse sneezing have different sounds? |

| I'm wondering the same thing. Sullie has been making this noise and I'm not sure what it is. |
