| Trying to switch to Wellness... Hello all! I'm a new parent to a great new little guy, Bernie. He is half Yorkie and half Poodle. I've been trying to decide on his food. When I got him he was 4mo. old and was right at 3lbs. and was being fed Science Diet Puppy Small bites. I've been trying to get him to switch over to Wellness Puppy food. I've been doing the 75% and 25% for the past 4 days. When he eats he won't touch any of the Wellness food until all the Science Diet food is gone. In the end he will finally eat the Wellness food. So my question is do you think I should start looking for something else? It seems to me like he is telling me that he does not care for his new food? Thanks! |

This is odd because USUALLY pups pick out all of the new food first and then if they are hungry will eventually eat the old stuff which can make the gradual switch a bit difficult. He could be telling you he is not liking it. If you are set on feeding him Wellness just try a different variety. If he does the same thing- then just keep on making the switch and he'll adjust to the new food eventually | |

| Welcome!!!! Check the meat source of the Science Diet and see if it matches or differs from the Wellness. If it's different, you can see that Bernie likes that type of meat and is not diggin the Wellness. Chicken is most popular and if by chance both are chicken, I would try a different variety. If you email some companies, many of them will send samples. (See Sticky in this section) Also check kibble size, sometimes if it's too large, Yorkies will turn up their nose. Snickers was so picky so I tried everything. Good luck w/ Bernie

| I just switched my 5 month old to Innova Puppy (she came to me on Eukanuba)....She did the same thing through the whole process, but she picked out the new food, the Innova; She LOVES it!...Based on how long she's been on the new food, maybe you could find one she likes, however, I know it's not good to keep switching...If you just started, then I'd find something she likes...Innova is a holistic, all natural food.... Love Maggie & Apple xoxoxo |
