| Is your pet overweight? Seems to be that alot of people are loving their babies into bad health. I admit it is very hard for me not to give the girls small bits of what I eat. Here is an article I found Obese spaniel on crash diet | The Sun |News Last edited by dogears; 04-01-2009 at 01:28 PM. Reason: forgot to include link |

| Ellie is usually considered underweight and she eats large amounts of food and her diet is homecooked... Go figure. She has fast metabolism.

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | I've always struggled with Eddie's weight, but he's at a good weight right now. The problem is I have him in obedience classes all the time, and you give lots of treats for that. It was hard finding the right combination of treats and meals. I now cut back on meals when he's getting a lot of treats. That and exercise has him at what looks like a good weight right now, about 10 pounds. At his heaviest, he was 11.4 pounds.

| Layla was overweight- at her heavies she was 7.4 lbs and the vet was worried it would affect her lp in her legs- so we worked and worked and worked and now she is probably somewhere between 6.2 and 6.6 which is ideal for her size. Our vet was saying that just being 1 pound overweight, when compared to how very little they weigh, is like an adult being obese. It is very important to try and keep the weight off. |

You would think Buddy's was over weight at 16.5lbs but he's not. The weight goes with his body build. If I stand over him from the back and look down he has a nice defined waist which means he's not over weight. When he got down to 11lbs when he was sick but weighting 13lbs at the time, he looks pathetic. So drawn. He is now the perfect weight for his body. However, I really wish he were smaller, like 10-12lbs. | |

| omg!! that dog is far toooooooooooo heavy! poor thing.. its not good to feed the dog 2 much..and pups love to go 4 walks and to play ball.. so im as to why any1 would overfeed there pet like this..it could be so much happier if it was a little more healthy,, i do blame the owner! because we all control wot our dogs eat..i understand that sumtimes our dogs beg and we look in there eyes.. and yes, its hard to deny them,, but we should all remeber that poor spaniel that surely is 1 unhappy dog.. thank goodness sum1 responsible has stepped in to help,my last dog was a king charles spaniel, such a loving playfull little girl, but if i allowed her, she would have ate allday long. if there was chicken in the oven she would sit at the oven door until it came out. lol, im not saying dont treat ure dog, just know when to stop.

| i think miss buffey is a tad overweight i cannot feel her ribs unless i really push down. before she gained the 0.25lbs i thought she seemed too skinny although she has always been active and has never had any problems i need to stop giving her bits of what i am eating (only healthy things of course like veggies, wheat crackers or bits of pasta - things like that)...but she is my baby and i cannot resist the cute face she makes she has mommy wrapped around her paws and knows it it is definitely NOT healthy for our babies to be overweight given they are prone to knee problems and things like that and extra weight exacerbates these issues

| i have 2 that are a littl porkie but 3 that are just right. Kissy was tiny until we got Angel and then they both started eating like crazy. I always kept the food down all the time. Angel is not overweight but Meiah is getting very pudgy and she is a little piggie trying to eat everything in site! I have all of them on the weight loss kibble even though 3 don't need it. I don't want to have to feed different foods. I am measuring their portions now and they are doing great losing a little weight. Kissy and I will be doing water aerobics this summer in our pool!! |

| I have both skinny ones and fat ones. My skinny ones are the most active, always running and never sit still for a second. They get special treats, canned food, all that jazz. On the other end I have a couple that are quite the pudges, one that will actually sleep by the food bowl and reach over to get a bite in her sleep. I am guilty of table-feeding too, I guess that makes me a terrible parent. |
