| People Food Tyke is two years old and he has been extremely spoiled since we got him. He is basically our only "kid" and he eats mostly what we do. He spends the day at my moms and does eat dog food there because my moms dog does. When he is home he won't touch his dog food! We try to give him healthier people food, fruit and meat...but I don't think he is getting the proper nutrition and vitamins he needs. Any advice to wean him off people food and get him to eat dog food???? I feel so bad when he begs and I give in so I know this is mostly our fault for this behavior. |

| Have you tried crate training him? If so put him in while you eat and only allow his food. You will be glad you did, it will make for a healthy puppy. Good luck!!!

| Weaning him off really wont work. If you give him any people food, he will hold out from his kibble because he knows he's going to get something better. If his diet is 20% people food, he MUST be supplemented to insure proper vitamins and minerals, as well as calcium-phosphorus ratio. My advice to you is pick a good, high-quality kibble and feed it to him He may hold out for a few meals, but when he realizes he isn't going to get anything better, he'll eat. How old is he and what does he weigh?

| trixie knows how to beg, and she will get people food as a treat fot tricks, but she does eat her kibles, and lots of it. So I think there are eceptions to the rule

| Well he is a bigger yorkie to begin with. He is two and weighs 12 1/2 pounds. We have recently been to the vet and he assures us his weight is ok...but as a concerned mom I want to make sure he is getting the right vitamins and such. |
