| Food For Skin Allergy?? Please help Hi everyone! Crazy yorkie mom again! Just need a little advice from everyone.....My baby girl yorkie (well shes 3 yrs old) has a food allergy and we are researching new food for her. The vet advised us to get a bird product, such as chicken, duck etc....not a red meat or meal base. Can anyone with similar situations tell me what food they choose? We are on science diet now, but are switching slowly as we find a better food.

| I second the NB limited ingredient line for true food intolerances. What foods have she been on before and what are the protein and grain sources? She may actually be allergic to chicken. Have environmental allergies been ruled out?

| She was first on science diet small bites, when she was around 2 we switched her to purina pro plan sens stomachs salmon (as per vet), now she is on purina pro plan small breed (i believe its chicken). We are checking out prescr. diet sensative skin but I want to weigh all the options before I decide. The science diet I believe is maybe 21% protein, the pro plan is like 26% protein (dont quote me on these numbers I am guessing since I am not home to see the label). It would be easier if I can get the food at the pet store rather than the vet, maybe something like nutro, eukanuba, science diet etc, HOWEVER I will feed her whatever it takes to make her well/healthy. I feel so guilty because she has OCD and acts crazy when she itches, I saw the bumps and thought she was just freaking herself out. My poor girl is uncomfortable from the food and I had no idea.

You can get NB at the petstore. Careful with the Nutro. There are a lot of illnesses and deaths reports in dogs who were eating that food.

| No, my schnauzer was on the sensitive stomach after she was sick from something and we try to keep them all on the same food. The vet told us about the sensitive stomach/sensitive skin and it was perfect for all 3 of them. Thanks for the heads up on nutro, I was actually just reading some bad reviews when I read your comment it confirmed that for me. Iam leaning towards the duck and potatoe natural balance. Thanks SO MUCH!!

| Johnny's been eating Natural Balance LID either fish and potato, duck and potato, or venison and potato, for more than 6 months now and doing very well on it. Vet agrees on quality of the food. I also give Salmon Oil to boost his immune system because he's list of allergies is longer than Shaquille O'Neal's arm. That's helping too...far fewer itchies.

| My Pommie, Snowboy, has known allergies to corn, wheat, and eggs. Thought I would try the grain free.....Taste of the Wild, then Natural Balance. Not good results. Then the store had me switch to Wellness Simple Food Solutions and he is doing wonderful. It is not grain free but it agrees with him. It took me 1 1/2 years to find a food for him. Rosie, my oldest Yorkie, also did poorly on the grain free but is doing excellent on the Wellness. All my furbabies are now on Wellness, except Cocoa, of course.
