| OMG! Please help me choose flea meds!! I just can't choose. I had a poll up but it got sided before I had enough responses. I hear Frontline can kill, don't like goop persay but will use it if it's the best. Snickers is on heartguard but I will stop that if I get a combo med. Please help me, I hate this, I don't want something hazardous for my babe. He is 3.5lbs and 8.5months old. Sentinel?? Revolution? Advantage?? Hmph!!!!!!! I need to do this soon, it's getting warmer.

| Hey Vivian, I put my 2 outside dogs on advantage multi, as that is for fleas, ticks, heartworm, ear mites, etc. So, it does the whole thing. You have to apply it once a month, but, from talking to a lot of people, you can actually go like 6 weeks in between. I have my inside dogs on k9 advantix. I don't use heartguard on them, as they're strictly inside(potty pads) if they do go outside, it's during the day for maybe 5-10 minutes just to run, and luckily we don't have a problem with mosquitoes around here. I had all of mine on sentinel before, which is a monthly pill for heartguard and fleas, but, not ticks. I really liked it, but, it was very costly for me with 6 dogs |

| i too use advantage multi on all 3 of my dogs....I have on allergic to mosquitos and that is the only thing that they can't include in her allgery shots, so that is the one the vet said to use for her. So now i use it for everyone!

| The one size is for like 2-5 pounds, I've used it on my 5.8 lb boy(I used it actually for almost a year, never a problem). I would have put on little one, but, I have switched over to stuff that is less expensive for me. |

| I don't like the combos that treat both fleas and heartworms. Don't forget these products are pesticides and we have to be especially careful with toy breed dogs. I use Interceptor for heartworms and Frontline or Advantage for fleas. I do them separately, one on the 1st and one on the 15th of the month to be safe. |

YT 3000 Club Member | I use revolution on chester for a long time, it is good for fleas, heartworm, american dog tick, and sarcoptic mange I do believe. I have heard it is considered a drug and not a pesticide, and the small does is 5-10 lbs. |

| Opps!!! I made a mistake...sorry. (I'm rereading this thread for updates, and saw my error). Prince's vet was referring to an oral control. I think it was Comfortis...I know it was a pill that is new on the market. I'll call him today and post an update.

| I use K-9 Advantix on my 5 and give them heartguard. Never had a problem. Vet was out once and I tried Promeris on my bigger female.....but I couldn't take the smell! Advantix is good for fleas and ticks, which we definitely have in Louisiana!

| Thank you all, this is helping many who are confused!! I am going to go with the Sentinel and also cont the heartguard but use them on seperate days. Sentinel does have a tab for 2-10lb doggies. I hate the applying the goop so this works for me. Much appreciated!!!

They are both heartworm preventatives. You could use Heartgard and then Program (the part in Sentinel that makes it so fleas can't reproduce without the heartworm med). I like Interceptor or Sentinel for small dogs depending on what you want to accomplish and Frontline Plus or Advantage if absolutely necessary. Heartgard is also okay.
