| My baby is FAT! Precious went to the vet yesterday for her well visit & she is overweight! She doesn't have a waist he said! I know why my husband gives her little tiny pieces of what ever he's eating!!!! I've yelled screamed everything...I said you're going to KILL her with kindness!!!!! He doesn't listen & now I'm freaking out! I drug him in & made the vet tell him she is overweight. I hope that helps but I wan ther around a long long time. She is 9 lbs & was 7 1/2 a year ago. I AM SO MAD! |

Any dog we ever had, my mother taught me never to hand feed the dog from the table. This turns your dog into a begger that sits there anticipating something every time people are eating. It might be cute to the family, or garner "love" (temporary) for the giver of food, but to me it takes a beautiful animal and turns them in to a BEGGER, and troublesome house guest. If you have company, it's not cute, if you take them elsewhere for a weekend, it's not cute. ALSO when I got my very first yorkie, the breeder told me that if I would keep her on the DRY food she was raised on and NOT feed her "people" food, she would have less health problems and live longer, and that is EXACTLY what happened. She also never had worms and never took all this fancy expensive mess every month. I just don't advocate it, and I don't blame you for being upset with hubby.

| A good way around the food thing would be to keep a small dish of green beans (fresh or frozen, canned are too salty!) or diced carrots to give as treats, instead of the many things that they shouldn't have. The begging thing is annoying and not adorable, but you could at least make sure that what she's getting is not going to make her heavier or sick. It took a long time for me to convince my husband not to feed our Starr (RIP) at the table I had to put it to him in terms of money (expensive vet bills) and death. By that time she was a seasoned beggar and would jump high up in the air and bark sharply at the table. NOT cute! Good luck with this, I hope you can get him to stop!

| Oh My Gosh! I get on to my husband all the time for tossing Maddie things she shouldn't have! Just yesterday he was giving her jerkey...from the bag! I made him look at the nutrition facts to see the salt. He has gotten better, after she has refused to eat pricey bag after pricey bag of kibble I didn't think your baby sounds overweight. AKC breed standard says must not exceed 7 pounds. She is right on! |

| hi, you could print out the info on overweight dogs. When he sees that it shortens their lives, causes heart problems, can lead to diabetes and Death maybe he won't be such a free feeder of bad foods.. Good for you showing him the salt content in the jerkey... HE shouldn't even be eating it if he has high blood pressure etc.. just don't buy it.... Good luck.. and your dog should have a waist. look at her from a standing position and see if you can see any kind of indication of a "waist" that is how all dogs should look..... ttfn, Sharon, PIXI & SPIKE |

| Time to put her and hubby on the tread mill or have him take her for long walks instead of snacking.
