| Is my dog REALLY sick?????? Austin is a year and a month old - 3 days ago I saw him throw up, but it was only clear liquid. He had been playing really hard and drank a lot of water. Well yesterday I noticed he wasn't himself and was pooping EVERYWHERE inside the house and in the back yard (he is potty trained). To make matters worse, it wasn't his "normal" poop, it was just brown fluid. You have to understand my lil guy has ENERGY and loves playing so much that he has fallin asleep playing ball but keeps on going!, but right now it looks like it hurts him just to lift his head. I gave him some chicken and rice yesterday and he did drink some water but he threw it up a couple of hours later. Am I just a worried Mommy or can I wait until Tuesday (this is Labor Day weekend) to go to the vet?

| He is still voluntarily eating and drinking? Have you noticed any blood in the stool? Is he being lethargic now? He yes, then I would just call the vet on Tues. if no, then I would take him somewhere ASAP.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Poor little guy - he sounds pretty sick .... I hope it's just an upset tummy - but I'm in agreement with the reply's here - I would at least CALL the vet for starters - He's a year old so I would hope it's not parasites or anything - Many people feed sick yorkies boiled Chicken and some rice and Pedialite for drinking - if he won't drink on his own - a Syringe with water will do the trick. If it were me - I would try that first - then see how he looks and if he's still really feeling bad .........I agree that you may need to talk to your vet and/or bring him in - If you see any shaking or signs of any severe symptoms I would call your vet asap though...it's better to be on the safe side. |

| It is always best to err on the side of caution although sometimes the vets like to get in there and do too many aggressive procedures so it depends on the vet. I am always cautious with the vet too and maybe even get more than one opinion. I know it will be emergency vets now since none are open otherwise, but that is just my experience. Could he have gotten into something bad or did someone feed him something out of the ordinary. Your description sounds like he is pretty sick. He needs to stay hydrated and blood sugar levels kept up so I would give him honey and pedialyte. Give the pedialyte by syringe if he won't drink voluntarily. Keep us posted on this poor little guy. I hope you recovers soon. |

| Keep a close eye on him, Did you say he was eating the chicken?? If so it might not be as bad as it sounds. Did you try giving him some nutrical? Pedialyte? Is it possible that he ate a plant or something? Is he vaccinated? Good luck, keep us updated?

| Update He is up to date with all his vaccinations and I don't think he got into anything- we aren't seeing any blood in his stool but it is a TINY bit on the redder side- but it doesn't look like blood. He hasn't eaten since yesterday when he ate the boiled chicken and rice but he threw it up. He has had a little bit of water since then though. I am off to the store right now to get some pedialite and some immodium. I just feel like crying! He has never been sick like this before (diarrhea and vomiting). THANK YOU ALL FOR RESPONDING SO QUICKLY!!!!! We will keep you updated!
