| Yorkies are still very cute even if their tails aren't docked. I wouldn't recommend getting them docked now, since they are a bit old. they like to get them done about a week after they are born, if you do it now, it will be way to painful, and I really don't think the vet would want to do it. your baby will still be a cutie!

| [QUOTE=yorkiekist;2507569]You will have to have a vet do the docking with anesthesia when the puppy is old enough to have surgery. Normaly tails are docked not more than 7 days of age.[/QU The Vet won't do it now, thay are saying it's to late, & it's being banned!! I'm wondering if I could tie a tight line around it?? After a few days will the top fall off?????????????? |

| I forgot to add that if you try to dock the puppy yourself without anesthesia, it will be VERY painful to the puppy.

| Now it is considered an amputation. I know a lady in CA that has one that she got from another country and it's tail isn't docked and it's adorable. I have 2 biewers, they also have their tails, they carry them up and wrapped around where they look like a C. |

| Tails are usually docked between 3 and 5 days of age. The bone starts to calcify and after that, it is very painful. You can do it later as an amputation if it really bothers you, but if you aren't planning on showing, I wouldn't put him/her through it.

| Tails Not Docked!! Thanks for all the positive replies. I think like you all said,I may think it's cute. I'm sure I will. I saw him 2 days ago, he just had his eyes opened. He really is cute. The tail is only short yet. I don't know how long it will grow. But what ever,as long as he's healthy, I guess that' the main thing. |

| My baby has her tail and I love it. It gives her more personality with the wagging, etc! |

I don't see the big deal anyways. Why dock a tail, especially if you're not going to show the dog? Let them be the way God made them, natural. There's no point in a docked tail in my opinion except for humans materialistic reasons.

| You might enjoy seeing pictures of Yorkies with tails. Many, many countries have outlawed tail docking/ear cropping. The puppy is adorable and was born with a cleft mouth, as a side note. | I would leave the tail and if you are not happy with it later you can get his tail cut when you take him to have his teeth cleaned Betty & Micah my love |
