| Newbie here needing help with feeding my Tobi Hi I am new here to yt and I love it! I am also new to raising a yorkie. I needed some help with feeding Tobi. He will only eat when I hand feed him. I have changed bowls, changed foods, moved bowls around, etc. nothing seems to work. I even tryed just not feeding him and he did not eat all day! I finally hand fed him because I wanted to make sure he ate. How do I break him of this? Also was wondering about how much yorkies eat? It seems like he does not eat that much! Also seems like he does not drink that much water. He is in great health just had him checked by a vet. I guess I just want to make sure I am taking care of him the best I can. I really thank you for any help you guys can give me. Thank you so much and I LOVE YT wonderful advise and great people!!! Thanks again. Tobi &Mommie |

| Max used to be like that when he was a puppy. Have you tried rubbing the food in your hands a minute before putting it in the bowl? Sometimes I would hold it in my cupped hands and breath out onto it too. He is fine now. I always serve his food into his bowl with my hands only. I read on the Dog Whisperer that it is a pack leader thing. Also, try adding soft food to it in the bowl. And try putting his "treats" in the bowl for him to take them out of.

| Hi! Could you please give us some more background on Tobi? Like how old is he? How much does he weigh? How long have you had him? What did they feed him before you got him? And what are you feeding him now? The reason I ask is because when we got our Mia she was really too young to be weaned from her Mom. She didn't know how to do alot of things. We, too, had to hand feed her -infact there were times we had to force feed her. She really never like any of the food we gave her and we tried so many I lost count. To tell you the truth - she only started eating well since we got Max! Go figure!!!

He was eating Nurto and everyone here told me no that was a bad food. He is doing better since this post! I just am not use to small dogs. How much do they eat? Or how much do I feed him? I have been feeding twice a day and treats! Thanks for all the help!!! Kym & Tobi |

| Hello and welcome, Just picture his size and you can imagine how small his tummy is. I doubt he will eat as much as the can directs. They normally eat until full then stop (with wet food) I leave dry food down all the time because when they play they use up so many calories and he will be able to keep his bloodsugar in balance if he can free feed. He will basically drink when thirsty but if you notice his urine is very dark then he is not drinking enough and you might need to se if you can get him to eat ice or ck with the vet. Good luck, we are here to help.. Sharon |
