hair/skin problems please help... My Nikki is 5 years old now When I got her she weighted 1 & 3/4 pounds now she weights 5lbs. She is awesome. Anyway I need help. For the last couple of months she has been getting really oily. I can give her a bath and by that night she looks so greasy it's gross and she smells bad. She is also losing her hair on her back side and she is constantly chewing by her tail and making herself bleed. I have heard all kinds of answers like it's a grass allergie or flea allergie. She has a vet appointment next week but does anyone have any solutions to the oily hair and smell??? Nikki and I appreciate your help greatly!!!

Have you changed her diet at all lately? I know that can have an effect on their skin and hair. Welcome to YT!

Does she has any bumps/pimple looking things in her skin? A friend of mine had a similar problem with her dog, turns out it is seborrheic dermatitis...she uses a special shampoo...it got better, but it is coming back, so now they are changing foods, they are even considering it is come kind of allergy...better check with your vet on that. You might want to try a food less oily...

Thanks for the welcome. The vet didn't seem to concerned with my little Nikki's problem said it is more than likely an allergie. I am trying TGel shampoo now to see if that helps her any. I also switched her diet. I guess only time will tell if it helps her any. She is so sweet I hope it does!! She just doesn't understand it when she is all greasy and smelly and we won't let her sleep with us!! =o)
