YT 2000 Club Member | Harmful Chemicals - Need your Help! Hello, My question. I have heard certain cleaners can harm your puppy when cleaning your floors (kitchen, etc.). Any suggestions? Thank you in advance for any advice. Jasmine's Mommy |

| My parents have hardwood floors and they only use vinagear and water on the floor. Swifter wet jet is very harmful to doggies, so dont use that!

| Pine Sol can trigger a seizure and the laminate floor polish I used bothers them too. When I clean I use hot water with a little bleach, just enough to clean and not discolor anything or leave a residue. I always leave everyone in their kennels until the floors are mopped and dried. I've tried vinegar and water but I can't stand the smell of vinegar so that one was out for me, but it did work well. |

| I bought a steam mop and use that to clean all of my floors. The steam kills germs and bacteria, and you don't use any chemicals. It's also a lot less work than a regular mop! It came with microfiber pads that I can just throw in the washer (no fabric softener). I love it!

| Any cleaner has the potential to do harm because they are chemicals. Swiffer seems to carry the same amount of danger as other cleaners (see Snopes). Just make sure the floors dry before letting the pups walk on them. If you are still worried, maybe you can use something more natural. I use Mr. Clean, Clorox Clean-up, 409, Fantastic, Pine Sol and Swiffer and have never had a problem but that doesn't mean that they are safe either...

| I wanted to get a steam mop, but when I checked online about the different ones, it stated that they should not be used on hard wood floors. I think they are safe to use on "Prego" type floors, but not real wood. I use a capful of Murphy's Oil Soap with a lot of hot water.

| Mine is a Bissell steam mop. I got it at Target. I think it was around $70 but I can't remenber the price. There are all different brands. |
