| Anyone feeding NV Instinct? I am making the switch AGAIN! I am changing Wookies kibble from Innova EVO to the NV Instinct. Just wondering who has used it and what they experienced. After reading the label on it, I am very impressed with it.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | That is my son the vet tech food of choice and we fed our dogs NV Instict for about a year, but is sold in only ONE store in our area and during the winter if we get any weather problems the stock goes very fast and I did not want to take the chance of not finding it, so we switch to Innova. my Harry did well on it, the only thing I did notice was that he tended to pass very stinky gas and his poop was really stinky too, all that went away when we switch to Innova Evo for him. Best of luck with your switch.. NV is a very good food. hugs, Carmen in nj |

| Yes, that is what I feed my four. They love the taste, the kibble is small enough for their mouths, their teeth are beautiful and clean, their hair is so soft and shiny, they are healthy and energetic, I could go on and on..... I think we've found our permanent food. I'm very happy with it and recommend it highly. May I ask why you're switching? Innova is an excellent food as well. Are you just wanting to try a rotation diet?

Well, I started doing a rotation diet between NV raw and the Innova about a month ago. He had been on the Innova for about 6 months along with homecooked patties that I decided against doing anymore because I wasn't balancing the nutrients in them and I think it was causing a pH imbalance in his urine. He had been on the homemade patties for about a year. (he used to eat Canidae) He was having bad gas on the rotation diet. Now to be honest, he has had occasional gas for awhile, but it got worse with the raw. I can't exactly place when the occasional gas started, I can't remember if it was at the same time that he started the Innova or homemade patties or what. And, not to be gross, but his gas really smells of garlic. There was garlic in his homemade patties and there is garlic in the Innova, so that is why I am switching. The Instinct and the Innova seem to be very similar except for the garlic, so I am going to try this first and go from here to figure it out. (With Ann's help I decided to go this way!! Thanks Ann!) So it is a process of elimination. Once I figure it out, I will try to go back and add the raw again. I have also put him on digestive enzymes and probiotics. We will see...... So I just wanted to see what people think of the Instinct, like I said, I am pretty impressed with what I have read on the label. But of course, they want you to buy it!!! LOL

| I guess I am just looking for confirmation that it IS a really good food. I was so happy with the Innova EVO and felt like I was doing so well for him, that I hate to switch, but I gotta figure out what is giving him gas. Who knows it may not be the EVO. If its not the EVO (or the garlic in it) I am going to try changing protein sources next. I don't think I will ever have this diet thing completely figured out!! <sigh>

| I just switched over to NV instinct about 2 weeks ago. Zoey turned a year old in Jan. and we went grainless. The only negative I've noticed is stinky gas!! This girl can CLEAR a room!! I am gonna finish the bag and hopefully her system will adjust! |

| Wow, you guys are telling me that you had the total opposite problem of what I am! I think it was the EVO possibly giving him gas and I am trying Instinct to see if it stops!!! Uh oh, hope I am not in for a wild goose chase here trying to figure it out. My next step if it is not the EVO is to change the protein source. He has always had chicken, will try red meat next!!!

| We feed both Nature's Variety Instinct and Wellness Core. Both are superb foods.

| I also use NV praire and instinct. Kibble as well as canned and raw. My maltese had skin problems prior to switching her to NV. when we bought our yorkie the breeder told me about NV this was the first time I'd heard of it. that I could feed it to a 5yr old maltese as well as my 4mos yorkie that was a plus. My yorkie is 9 mos tomorrow and she has great teeth skin and coat lots of energy. My maltese's dental has improved and her skin and coat has improved as well. We drive 35 miles once every 4 to 6 weeks to the nearest store that carries it, but to us its been well worth the money and the trip. NV has my vote. |

| I was looking on the ingredients list and I think I see why so many dogs have had the gas problems on Instinct. It has Duck Eggs, Quail Eggs, Pheasant Eggs, and Chicken Eggs!!! Thats a whole lotta eggs!! We are to the point in the gradual switch to the Instinct where we are half and half with the EVO. So far so good.....been some burping but the gas seems to have gone down some...we'll see...
