Donating YT 11K Club Member | Pee smells so bad! I don't know if it's cause he's a male or what but sometimes when Teddy pees it smells so bad! Yesterday he peed ON the baby gates i have set up for them and i smelled it kinda from afar, and it smelled gross, its a strong smell. When the girl's pee i haven't noticed any odor, it doesn't smell like pee in the room or anything but when he does i have to change the pads right away. I was wondering if anyone knows anything about this...

| Is Teddy neutered and are your girls spayed? I know when my girls come into heat, or are coming into heat, Murfee's urine smells very skunk like but that's the only time it does that. |

Donating YT 11K Club Member | No he's not neutered, one of the girls are spayed but the other is not in heat. I guess it is him spraying then. It smells terrible lol

| It's because he is not neutered. |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Nolee's urine about one time did the same. It had a very bad odor. Now that I think about it, he was not neutered. I thought it was something he was eating outside. Well, he is just fine now, so I guess it was b/c he was not neutered at the time!!

Donating YT 3000 Club Member | This is one of the many reasons i neutered my dog's i can't stand The way they smell unneutered. I had a neighbor's unneutered dog over once it peed in my yard It took week's so get rid of the smell. |

| Zeke is neutered and the last 3 days his pee has smelled of skunk and he also all of a sudden quit using his pee pads. Yesterday he went on a chair so now I have him in a belly band when he's not sleeping. My last male terrier never did this. So is it more likely he is in a pseudo heat or has a utc? He acts healthy as can be. |

Poor Zeke, poor Rubye! Funky pee can be a sign of a medical issue. Hanie Elfenbein, DVM, "What Your Pet's Urine Says About His Health," PetMD. About odor, article says "foul smelling urine is often an indicator of infection. Concentrated urine will have a stronger smell." "Clues to Your Dog's Health Can be Just a Whiff Away," 2014, Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts University. Article mentions that urine that smells sour or like "rotting fish" may indicate a urinary tract infection. Thank you for lovin' your little one. -- KatysMom | |
