| soreness after shot Hi Everyone, I took Bella in this morning for her first shot. She was fine, didn't cry once while getting the shot. Now that she's been home for a few hours she seems to be very sore to the touch. I can't pet her nor can I pick her up. She just wants to stay in her cage. Is this normal or could something be seriously wrong? I'm one nervous daddy now. Thanks, Ricky |

| thank you Chachi...I'm just worried because Bella seems to not be herself right now. She hasn't eaten or drank anything since coming home from the vet this morning. I went to pick her up and she let out such a loud squeal in pain and did the same thing when I went to pet her. It only seems to be in the area where she got the shot (between the shoulder blade or around that area). I'm just really concerned because I don't think I could take something being seriously wrong with her. Thank you for the information. Ricky |

| If your really concerned call the vet and maybe they could give her something for the pain. Its probably best your vet know about it anyway

| Soreness and lethargy are pretty common after vaccines. Did she get lepto? Make sure her gums are nice and pink and that she isn't swollen anywhere. She also should respond to you. If not, it could be an emergency. You can call your vet and ask if you can give pain meds if you think she needs them.

| Hi Ellie May, I called Bella's doctor who told me to give her 2mg of children's benadryl. I'm just concerned because she hasn't eaten or drank anything since coming back from the vet. She just looks at me when I call her name. She won't move though. She's laying down in her cage all cozy and warm. I'm just really worried. Ricky |

Just listen to your vet. Ellie collapsed and went into shock after some vaccines once. The whole thing is miserable. If she looks when you call, she is responsive. Maybe just too sore or tired to move. You can always sit with her. Is she breathing okay?

| It's normal behavior as long as it doesn't go on for days. Even when we get shots we are sore, and want to be left alone.

| Hi Ellie May, Bella seems to be breathing fine. Also, there doesn't seem to be any swelling. Just soreness and she wants to be left alone. yorkiekids: thank you for putting a "human" spin on things. I know when I get me flu shot it does hurt for days especially when I raise my arm. Now I just have to figure out how much is a mg? I have a syringe type dropper which I think I just need to give two lines on the syringe to her. Any ideas? Ricky |

CC and ml are the same. 1 ml is 0.202884136 teaspoons. There are 5 ml in one teaspoon. So 2/5 teaspoon.
