| 12 week old yorkie's weight Not sure I am in the right place to ask this question, but hopefully I am! Is that normal weight for a 12-week old yorkie to be 2lbs 8 oz? Or is that large? Thanks!! Last edited by Suzan1003; 02-08-2009 at 10:39 AM. Reason: wrong age |

| Yorkies can come in all different sizes. Some may be smaller and others may be larger. The larger yorkies are often time referred to as "teapot". In any case, see below link on yorkie growth chart and you can figure out what his estimated adult weight. All yorkies regardless of size are adorable and too precious! Hope this helps. | No way, not weird at all! She will remain small, maybe get between 4-5 lbs tops. I don't know if you are worried. They grow for 6-8 months, and them seem to just fill out some more. Cute dog!! |

YT 2000 Club Member | Tucker weighed that at 12 weeks and at almost 5 months old he is 5 pounds already, he came from 4 pound parents... I would say that she is at a normal size right now however only time will tell as to how big she will actually be as an adult. The parents and the puppy charts can give you an "estimate" but I wouldnt count on them, they also say that you can double thier 12 week weight by 2 and that will be how big they will be so as an adult she will be around 5.6 pounds.. but like I said Tucker was that weight and he is already 5 pounds and Im pretty sure he isnt done growing.....

| The standard for Yorkie is 7lbs and under, but they come in all different sizes and shapes. Jackson was 6lbs at 12 weeks old, hehe. He's now my 15lb boy. Oops, just realized this thread is old.

| My Apple was, exactly, 2 lbs. @ 11 1/2 weeks, when I got her...I was told that she would be about 4 - 4 1/2 lbs.....However, @ 12 months old, she was 5 1/2 lbs. and not fat, at all... (I'm so glad, because 4 1/2 seemed a little small to me)...Two months later, after spay, she got up to 6 1/2 lbs...I cut down on her food, and she now weighs 6 lbs....So I'm thinking your pup will probably be between 5 1/2 and 6 1/2 lbs...which I think is a very nice weight |

You may get more responses if you start a new thread. Have you scheduled a vet appointment for him? Normally when one gets a new pup, it is wise to have your vet check him over... check your contract and Health Guarantee for specifics. We also have a Library Section that may help you with many questions you may have about Yorkie health and care. Good Luck and hope to see some pics...

| That's a perfect weight. The general rule is to double the weight at 12 weeks so that would make the adult weight about five pounds. The Yorkie standard calls for them to be under 7 pounds. |

| I think your little one is at a great weight for 12 weeks. Rocco was about 3.5lbs at 12 weeks, and last month (8 months old) he weighed in at 6.1 lbs. I'm happy he's on the 'bigger' side (if you can call it that ), and would be fine if he went past the standard of 7lbs...more to love.
