| Food Question Hi Everyone! When I got Dixie from the breeder she gave me a starter pack of Royal Canin (which is what she feeds her dogs) mini33. I have been feeding this to her ever since. After reading that Royal Canin isn't the best dog food out there, I wanted to try something different. Dixie has never been a big eater, I'm doing good to get her to eat 1/4 C. a day. But she only weighs a little over 2 pounds. So, today I bought her some Blue Buffalo Puppy. I mixed it in with the R.C. so she doesn't get diarrhea, but she's picking out the BLUE and eating only that!! What should I do?! I guess I should be glad she likes it Any help would be much appreciated! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | This happens a lot - they smell the new food and are all WOO HOO!! And they pick it out. Well, if her poo is okay, then I'd say just keep doing what you're doing over the next week - I'd continue "pretending" you're transitioning so that she still might eat some of the old food. The main thing is to keep an eye on her poo though.

I have Phoebe on the RC also, but I've had to use "mix-it" canned, just a spoonful mixed with warm water and the RC and she eats it all up right away. If I only give her dry food she won't eat it. 30 minutes after she eats I take her out and she poo's and pee's and all is well. I hope this helps..

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Well, it is hard to find food! I have been trying for 2 years. You hear the good & the bad. I have had Nolee on a Raw diet for almost a year now. It has worked for us. I believe all dogs are not the same as people. It is not easy! Good luck! I dont mean this as being mean, it just takes a while. This is my opinion!

| Jackson is SO picky with his dry dog food! I tried SO many things. When I got him, he was on Eukebana ... I think (sp?) and he didn't really seem to like it all that much and I had wanted to switch him anyways. So I started mixing that with the new food I got Chicken Soup for the Puppy's Soul. He hated it. Then I started giving him Performatrin Ultra, which he semi-liked, he would nibble on it occasionally. I usually had to mix it with wet food though for him to eat more of it. I tried 3 different foods and he just... didn't like them. So, finally, it's not THE best food (but he hated all the 4 and 5 star foods I got him) he is eating Nutro Natural Choice and he LOVES it!

Blue Buffalo is excellent!! Their website is very informative...bluebuff.com. You may want to check it out. Is she also eating the lifesource bits? (The round, black, hard bits). Prince eats Blue Buff (for small picky adult dogs) and Solid Gold. Check out the other threads. We have had a lot of discussion about what to feed our babies.
