| Soft Poops Hello... I recently started mixing in a BIT of canned food (EVO 95% Duck or Venison) with Snickers' NB kibble (duck/potato or venison/Spotato) and have noticed his poops have become softer and wondered if this was normal and would they harden up after he became used to it?? I am hoping his anal glands are naturally still draining since the last vet visit said his glands were great. I literally give him about a teaspoon of canned with about 1/4 cup kibble, just to coat it. His poops are at his reg times and nothing is sticking to his butt, but I notice they are soft when I go to clean the yard... Let me know what you think, maybe the added protein??-THANKS!! -Viv & Snick |

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | I personally don't feed canned to my cat or my pups. I always find that giving canned food gives them looser stools. I think it may have to do with the additives that they need to put in there so they can stay "fresh" in the can.

| It does that to some dogs and if the loose stools don't get better within a week or two, you may need to switch brands or stop canned altogether. Depending on how soft it is, this may not be healthy. Careful with the Evo canned. It is very high in fat (in my opinion, way too high in fat for Yorkies).

| Thanks Ellie.. Good to know. Snickers LOVES his Venison but I see that Wysong also makes one that is 7% fat. Evo is 10%. His poops look the same, just a tad bit softer. I am freezing the canned into 4 portions since I use so little at a time. I would like Snick to gain a pound, he is only 3.5, so if he does, I'm ok with it. He actually won't eat without it anymore...uh oh!! xox- V |

| A vet tech on another forum I belong to said they were seeing dogs on some of the high protein foods with high levels of fat in their blood (Hyperlipidemia). Evo was one of the ones she mentioned. Since Yorkies are prone to pancreatitis anyway, I probably would avoid Evo. |
