| fiber in dog food What is the highest amount of fiber allowed in dog food? I found 4% in Natural Balance , but I can't find anything with a higher percentage. My baby has anal gland issues and I think a higher fiber diet will help. My ideal food would be allergy food with a lot of fiber. thanks.

| I'm not sure about the highest allowable amount for AAFCO but Ellie's (homecooked) is 8% I think. What percent are you looking for? Just more than 4%? That isn't terribly low from others I have seen. Science Diet R/D and W/D are very high in fiber. Are you wanting to totally avoid prescription diets? These wouldn't be good for allergies though.

| Lady is diabetic and needs a high fiber diet. A high fiber diet is good for dogs with liver disease, too. You can make any food higher in fiber by adding Benefiber. That's how I avoided Hills W/D when Lady became diabetic. |
