| How much food does your yorkie eat? About how should a pup eat? How much does your adult yorkie eat? I'm just curious because I want to purchase a automatic 5 meal feeder for my yorkie but it only holds up to 1 cup per meal. Is that going to be enough? Has anybody ever used one before? I'm not sure what to do so it'll be nice to get some advice from YOU yorkies owner. . .

| Ellie eats over a cup a day wet. When she ate dry, she ate about 1/2 cup free fed. She was 5 pounds and about five-years-old at the time.

| Charlie is 4months old and weighs a little over 5lbs..he eat twice a day sometimes 3 times a day. He eats about 1/4 cup at each meal with a little of the turkey food roll mix in with his food. This is the only way he will eat the natural balance duck and potatoe kibbles. He drink 3 times a day. Most of the time, he will drink the whole bowl in one drinking session. Of course we have to go pee right after and every 2 hrs afterward. |

| mine never stops eating. i think he is part pig and part yorkie. actually, when i adopted him, the previous owner told me that my little einstein is a healthy eater. i didn't realize how healthy. he eats about 1 cup of his dry food, sometimes mixed with wet food or pineapple split into two meals a day. on top of that he gets so many treats throughout the day. i try to portion his meals, but he goes beserk when he knows that i'm about to feed him. he certainly loves his food. he's only 6 months now and a little over 6 pounds. eeks! and i was hoping for a standard (size)yorkie too, doesn't look like it at the rate he's growing. |

| Chloe is about a week shy of 11 months and is 2.5 lbs. I free feed her and she eats about 1/4 cup of kibble a day total (some days a little more ) and a couple days a week I will give her a teaspoon or so of canned food for breakfast. I'm still looking for a kibble she likes well enough to really want to eat.

| Hello everyone...my Yorkie is 6 years old, 6lbs, and he eats twice a day; usually in the morning and at night. I don't measure his food so I don't know exactly how much he eats but I do know that he doesn't over eat. Umm...he loves to beg (thanks to my ex) so every once in a while he gets a bit here and there. I try to hold back as much as possible on the table food though. |

| My brother just got a pup and he just leaves the food out for her all day - while hes watching her of course. His puppy isn't a yorkie.... should I do the same? Leave the food out while shes playing outside her crate?

| I give Max half a cup of food twice daily. It's dry food mixed with canned food...and he's 12lbs. He's only half yorkie though and half maltese... the vet said he's about 1lb over weight but other than that healthy with the amount of food he gets. I'm not sure if I should switch to 1/4 cup twice a day to get his fat down? |

| The boys get about 1/2 C. dry food a day. 1/4 am & 1/4 pm plus snacks. Too many snacks! Mickey has gained a pound since last summer! Not enough walking outside because he hates the cold.

Toki used to be around 10 pounds...I switched her to Wellness Core Reduced Fat which is higher in protein and fiber and also cut out almost all treats and edible chews. She lost a little over a pound over the course of a month. Adding extra walking time really makes a difference too (even if they're not super long)! I know each dog is different but I give Toki 1/4 cup of food 2x a day (her current food is ~380 cal/cup) and her weight stays around 8 pounds...we maybe walk around 45 minutes a day (more if I don't have to work or if the weather is really nice). | |

| At 2.5 lbs and 14 weeks, I'm lucky if Sam eats 1/2 cup all day. It takes him an hour plus a good running play session to eat 1/4 cup in the morning.
