| My Dog's Flabby Stomach? Our 2 year old Yorkie did the whole "I'm not eating my dog food anymore I want only people food" over the holidays. This lasted for 6 weeks until I finally decided to do what everyone was saying. Offer the dogs her food twice a day, leave it for 20 minutes, if she doesn't eat she'll learn to eat. Her weight before all this was 9 pounds, I would say during the 6 weeks she wasn't eating (she also has worms) she lost a pound if not more from just snacking on human food only. Well we started on Dec 28 offering her just dog food twice a day and it took 3 days but she has now ate her dog food twice a day for a month now. Which is great but my problem was I think I was so happy she was eating her dog food I overfeed her. i was giving her 1-1 1/2 cups a day of dry food total each day. She'd eat it all Well by Jan 16th she had went from 8 pounds to 10 pounds so I was like I am over feeding her, so I cut back a lot, but we also noticed that she delevopled a low hanging skin around her stomach area, like it feels like it's just full of fat. Almost like she is pregnant and full of milk. So my question is, was this fat hanging skin due to the overfeeding and rapid weight gain? I'm thinking so, but I wanted to see if any other dog owners have experience this. I have since looked up all the info and giving her the correct amount of food per day. I was feeding her almost double what she is needed. When she lays on her back the stomach has a crease in it from the two sides of hanging skin. She's never been pregnant and is not fixed incase you wanted to know. She is normal, playful, the area is notmal color, no paint to touch, it's just really ugly on her and I just wanted to get other peoples opinion on this. thanks. |

| Molly went from 14lbs to 16lbs after she was spayed. i have been cutting down her food a bit and she is now back to her ideal weight of 14lbs. I havent noticed any spare bits on her tummy though, but she does get lots of exercise every day. She chases a ball round the fields for 20mins non stop each day and then has an hours walk on top of that. I would get your pup checked at the vets if you are really worried. |

| lexi went from 10 lbs to 12 1/2 lbs from the holidays and feel she has alittle flab in the belly area also..im trying to make her lose that weight, but its so very hard, especially now thats its winter and it freezing outside and we need to do our walks.. i would let the vet check it out and see what he thinks.
