| How often do you feed... Your yorkies??.. I want to follow the NILIF thing.. But I cant figure out how to feed them .. I had other dogs and did the same for them but I never had the issues with my other dogs as i do with these 2... What Ive always done is leave a bowl of food out all day and they eat as they go.. if its fininshed thru out the day great if not thats ok too.. and they both eat from the same bowl.. I want to stop that , im noticing the one dog when she gets nervous will go directly to the bowl to eat and I dont want that to be associated with anything other then food i dont want her to eat out of nervousness or anxiety .. i want them to eat for hunger.... but Ive done this way of feeding my whole life , so I dont know how to do any other way ... And then im afraid they wont be eating enuff and will be starving ... So if any one has any suggestions on how to go about this, im ready and willing to listen!! thanks ........Noel |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Just to let you know, I'm not at all an expert. This is what I do. I feed Nolee twice a day. If he does not eat within 2 hours, I pick up his food. I do not give any treats during the day if the does not eat at the first meal. The second meal, around 5 pm,I will put out his food. He will usually eat then. If not, within 2 hours, I will pick it up till the next day. He has gone as long as 3 days without eating. Believe me I was worried, but as long as he is drinking water and acting normal, I was told it was okay. It is hard to accept them not eating and does bother me. Luckily, now, he will only miss one meal a day and does drink plenty. As I said, I am not a professional, but this has worked for me! Good Luck!

| I feed the guys twice a day. Small breakfast either before I head out to work or when I come in from a midshift then again around 6 pm. The few times Zeke gets picky I wait 30 minutes then remove it. There is a small bowl of dry food out for them at all times but they usually do not eat it and I wind up tossing it away after a day or two. Zack is an eager eater while Zeke is a slower eater. They're not suffering at 11.1 and 13.5 lbs per their weighing at their annual a couple days ago. Maybe a lb or two heavy but we do walk more than a mile once a day and 2-3 times around the 3/4 mile block.

Three days without food? Yikes. I'd be worried about that for multiple reasons. I'm sure you've already tried different foods? Generally, dogs are super excited about food and eating. Then, there are few (I can think of ones on YT!) who are terribly and inexplicably picky. Still, I always recommend to try different foods and wet/dry combos to see if you can find some favorites. Also, having variety can help w/ picky eaters.
