| Terrified of Car.. I have a new baby ..(6 mos.) She is terrified of the car....she shakes and her tongue hangs out..and she stands the whole time....I must add she is scared of the vacuum, and mixer, any loud noise...My guess is the plane ride scared her...(she was shipped to me) I take my first baby everywhere with me..but have been leaving her home because her sister is so scared...any suggestions....? Thanks..

| Frimousse was just like her when she arrived home . I get her used to noise gradually . Example : for the car , take her in the car with you for a minute without starting it , when she'll begin to understand you can go longer . Vaccum and mixer is the same thing . |

| Rio used to be scared when he was a pup, but now he loves it. Good luck.

| A lot of young pups actually suffer from motion sickness too-- Lots of dogs outgrow it as they age, but it can be a source of distress in the car. Not feeling good ends up reinforcing the fear that they are feeling in an unfamiliar situation. It'll hopefully get better as she ages if motion sickness is contributing to the distress. In the meanwhile, I'd try to reward her as much as you can to make the car trip enjoyable. Take her lots of fun places in the car-- the park, to obedience class, to doggie playgroups-- so that she begins to expect to go somewhere really neat each time she gets in the car. I think the anticipation helps to outweigh the anxiety...
