| Calcium and The Honest Kitchen How much calcium would 2lb adult Yorkies need? I'm thinking of switching to The Honest Kitchen but it says it has 1.8 or l.9 Calcium. What does this mean? Is it enough calcium? and vitamins and minerals? This is the reason I'm thinking seriously of switching from home cooking to The Honest Kitchen, as I am still not sure I am doing the nutrition right. Those who use it, do your babies like it? Mine are extremely picky and I worry they won't like it. At least when I home cook, they like it and eat the food. I usually feed them ground lamb mostly with broccoli cooked in low sodium chicken soup and some melted american cheese. Sometimes I feed chicken, very occaisionally, salmon. Any thoughts or suggestions are welcome. Thanks Shellie |

| Thank you for responding to my question. Have you ever used The Honest Kitchen? Do you know anybody who has. I inquired at their website and the food is extremely expensive. I ordered a sample of The Force, which they say is the tastiest. My girls are so picky. I hope they like it. Thanks again so much for your reply. Shellie |

| I have never used it. I homecook for Lady because of all her health problems. I follow a recipe for liver compromised dogs and add all the supplements included in the recipe, but I still worry about it. If Lady were healthy, I would just stick with a high quality commercial diet, but that's no longer an option. |

| Thank you both Thank you both so much, Meg, and Ladymom for answering my questions. I am feeling much better Meg since you feel this is a good food. I am terrified of having the commercial food tainted and possibly poisoning my babies. But I have heard good things about The Honest Kitchen, so I am feeling relieved. I am thinking or assuming that it is made in the United States. Not that this necessarily means anything, but I don't want anything from China, and I know all the mom's and dad's on Yorkie Talk love their babies as much as I love mine, so I trust this website and all you guys to give great advice. I have never ever been disappointed. Thanks again so very much to both of you wonderful people. Health and happiness to you both. I just hope and pray they like the food. I was home cooking for them, so maybe I'll just add some ground lamb to the Force. Shellie, Cassie and Muffin |

| We've been using The Honest Kitchen for almost two years. My Sissy is very picky and loved this right from the beginning. We've used all the formulas, the only one they weren't crazy about was the Beef. Although the price appears to be very expensive, a 10 lb box lasts for several months (and that is with feeding two). I probably order 2-3 times a year.

| Hi Jody, Thanks ever so much for your input. The more input i get the more secure i feel about this food. I have been home cooking for my girls after trying just about everything else including raw. Cassie loved the raw but it was irritating her insides, my vet said she was just too small (2lbs full grown) for it. I finally switched to home cooking, but could never find a really complete supplement i could add to their food and have them eat it. I am using add life occasionally, i try to sneak it in- but they usually detect it and then balk at eating their food. It has been a struggle i can tell you. And i don' even feel comfortable with add life-that it is complete nutrition. So i am thrilled to hear that all the nutrition is in the THK food itself and that the babies really love it. I'm praying that there will be no more struggles with food and that they will be getting the great nutrition i have thus been unable until now to provide them. Thanks from the bottom of my heart. | My dog (Monday) was diagnosed as anorexic. She was 4 lbs. 4 oz (5 years old at the time) and had pancreatitis and was hospitalized in April '08 and hydrated for 3 days. My vet insisted on some crappy Hill's z/d kibble which the dog totally ignored. Jodie (LuvMySissy) sent me THE HONEST KITCHEN and Monday ate it up so fast. Here we are now 8 months later and she weighs a healthy 6 lbs 2 oz. and looks great. THK is a raw dehydrated food, all you do is add water. See the video link below. We have never gone back to that vet, and life is good. Have a new vet and a healthier dog. We use FORCE because it is the one she prefers. I did try EMBARK and THRIVE but FORCE seems to be the flavor of choice, but each dog is different. I highly recommend THK. here is a company that I found that has the best prices ....Alpha Nutrition or try this site to get a sample size.
