| Worried...any advice?? Little Bailey has 2 baby teeth that need to be taken out, as her adult teeth have come in right behind them. The vet said that they could do her teeth and spay her at the same time. I, however, am scared to have this done. Bailey is now 8 months old, definitely old enough to be spayed, but she only weighs 2 pounds. I am worried that because of her weight, they might give her too much anesthetic. I know those teeth have to come out, but I am too scared to make the appointment. Any advice?

| mickey got his baby teeth and neutered at the same time but since your girl is tiny, i don't know what i would do.... i would discuss this concern with your vet... if you have a good vet, they will give her the right dosage of anestisia if you don't feel good about the vet, ask other yt members of a vet they recommend in your area good luck! |

| Lexi had some of her baby teeth removed when she was spayed. Unfortunately, a few more adult teeth came in afterwards, and their corresponding baby teeth have not come out. I am not anxious to be putting her under anesthesia again! I called the vet and they said to wait until she was about a year, as they may come out on their own. I am keeping my fingers crossed! I would think your little one could wait a bit longer as well.

| Fiona had her baby teeth extracted at the time of her spay as well, most vets will do that together. I would tell you to just get pre-op blood work prior to surgery, she should be fine though!

| My advise is to wait til a year and see if they come out on their own. She may have a first heat before then but that's what I did with my Feather and she gained a bit more weight by then. It is very scary when they are this tiny. I went to a vet in Balt, MD and paid 3 times what my vet charges but he had much better equipment and keeps 2 nurses in the OR just to monitor what's going on |
