Weight Loss suggestions Tanjhei is a robust 15 lbs. All her life she has maintained at 10 lbs. Last year I was traveling for work and her and Febi went with me, well during this time Tanj would eat as little as possible and stayed at the 9.5-10.5 range. Now that I no longer travel it seems she has put on alot of weight and I don't know how to get her to lose weight. When she was on kibble she went from eating 1 cup a day to 3/4 cup a day. Now that we are on raw I'm feeding only 2% her body weight in hopes of losing weight. I need some suggestions. Tanj is 7 yrs old.

Has she had a thyroid panel done? At seven, Tanjhei is officially a senior dog and this should be part of her annual bloodwork. A full blood panel will also tell you if there is a medical reason for her weight gain. If she is simply overweight, I found frozen green beans slightly thawed to be the best tool for helping them lose weight. Lady become diabetic when she was two pounds overweight (another reason to get that weight off Tanjhei) and green beans were the key for us. They are high in fiber so they make them feel full.

Thank you. We are in the process of changing vets so as soon as I settle on one I will get her blood work done.
