| Did my yorkie have a seizure? Hello everyone. It's been a while. It's nice to be back and see all the cute yorkies and their nice parents. Sorry I just can't bring myself to say owners. I don't feel like we own them, they're family. Although sometimes it seems like they own us, hehe. Anyway, this morning when I let my yorkie out of his crate - "little cage" (I have to keep either my yorkie or his son (a yorkie/poodle mix: a "pookie" or "yorkle" because they fight viciously - this started when the son became an adult and I thought they'd just fight it out and get over it but after two vet bills I decided they had to be seperated for good) So when I let him out he was walking real slow. Normally he comes flying out of the cage and goes to the bathroom on his pad - especially in the morning. A few minutes later I was sitting down and noticed he was sitting on his little doggie bed on the floor but kinda had a paw sticking up. I thought maybe he stepped in something or got something stuck in the hair or between the toes so I went over to inspect him. I laid him on his back so I could look at his paw and found nothing wrong so i sat down and noticed while he was on his back - that paw was sticking straight up and shaking. I called his name a few times and no response so I picked him up and immediately his head kinda went to the right and was real stiff. His whole body was shaking. I thought he was cold so I held him close to me and talked to him and asked him for a sugar - which he's always very eager to give but he didn't respond. After a few seconds I got kinda worried and set him down to see if he was ok. He fell over. I sat him up and his whole body kind of curved to the right like he was lying down but he was standing up - with my help. I started calling his name and he took a few steps but they were wobbly and kinda in a half circle and he fell over again. This lasted about two minutes. I got on the phone and called my brother and asked if Skippy was ok when he went to work which he said yes to. About halfway through my conversation Skippy stopped shaking and seemed more normal. He gave me sugars and seemed ok again. I got off the phone and put him down and he could walk ok. He seems much more tired than normal. Usually he's up and eating or doing something in the morning but since his little "episode" he's just been sitting on my lap sleeping. He's so tired. Did Skippy have a seizure? If so why? He has horrible allergies and I can't take him outside because the grass makes him breakout and makes him sick. Other than that he's fine. Could something else have happened? Jeez I so wish today was a Monday so I could take him to the Vet. I'm taking him first thing in the morning to make sure he's ok. It was just so weird and scary. He's ok right now, if a bit sleepy. Hopefully it was just some weird isolated incident. I'm keeping a good eye on him to make sure he's ok until I can get him to the Vet tomorrow. If you'll have any ideas or suggestions then I'd be happy to hear them. Thanks everyone. I hope you'll had a great XMas and a Happy New Years. |

| This must have been horrible for you and your little boy i'm so sorry I am not a vet but it does sound like he has had a seizure from what you are saying. Bailey my little yorkie has seizures too. His little body goes all stiff and he rolls on to his back with his paws in the air shaking and not responding to me, bailey also foams from the mouth. When he comes out of the seizure he walks around circles and does not have a clue what is going on he then goes potty. Did you little one go to the toilet after? bailey also gets really hyper about 10mins after the seizure did your little one do this? Defo take him to the vet and see what he says. I hope its nothing to serious and its a one off. good luck hun xxx
