| I would take Lola to the vet for bloodwork just to be sure that there aren't any underlying physical reasons for the weight gain. Also, what about some extra exercise - nice walks, playing ball, etc. Good luck - I have a pudgy Chizzywink that needs to lose a few lbs. too. |

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Weight loss formulas are largely fillers and ineffective. You can switch her food to a lower protein content. Higher protein counts are fine...IF the dog is active enough to burn all that off...if not it turns to fat. Check the ingrediants on your food. Wellness has one of the lowest protein (22% I think). You need to fed her the amount as listed on your kibble. This varies a bit by what brand... generally a 1/3 cup and that feeding is a DAY...not a serving. Seperate your pups to feed them. Treats are totally off the menu. Good luck on your diet, Lola...it's not fun.

| You could have her tested for her thyroid or maybe cushings disesase. These are two main reason dogs gain weight.. Well just pray she is just a little piggy and not any of the above.

| After you have her checked ... and most likely she's a bit of a food-aholic I had a Min-pin a long time ago that would eat anything and I mean anything we have avocadoes growing outside our property and we had to search the grounds before we could let her out or she gorge herself on them after you have your Vet check her ask him which lo-cal food he likes and what amt you should feed your pup

| How much do you feed her per day, and what is the target weight you'd like her to be? Most of the time, the amounts recommended on dog food bags are more than what the dog should be getting, so even if you're following the recommendations, it might be much too much! There are some healthy things that you can add to their diet that will help them feel fuller without adding many calories-- cooked green beans and raw baby carrots usually work pretty well as little extras you can give that aren't as fattening as biscuits.

| She definately needs a trip to the vet for a thorough exam and appropriate blood work. I think of thyroid, but there are soooo many other factors and possibilities. Can you tell me her age, weight, and ideal weight? What food are you feeding her and how much? Please also describe her activity per day. We can probably help you get started with that information, given there are no serious health problems causing this gain....
