| Should I change the Food I have a 3 month old girl. I find that she doesnt eat much. This is my first dog ever and I'm not sure if I just dont know how much do they eat. Or is it that she doesnt like the food. At the moment she is eating Royal Canin puppy 33. My friend told me to change it to Science that is what she feeds her dog. How much should a 3 month old yorkie eat? Do they get used to the food? |

| I know that their tummys are small, so they don't eat much at one sitting. As far as changing to Science Diet...don't do it. It is a crappy food, with too many fillers. If you feel you really need to change, a better quality food is a must. I feed Natures Variety and my girls love it. |

| Did you just get her? Sometimes when they are new it takes awhile to get them to eat. Science diet is a poor food. Royal canin is better but it has corn in it and some dogs get the itchies from it. Have you tried canned food to entice her to eat?

| I would definitely not switch to Science Diet. Foods I like are Wellness, Nature's Variety, and Orijen.

| We started Shelby & Seymour on Royal Canin as puppies and they did fine...... I think it was really good for their coats and they didn't have any probs with corn... but it depends on the dog. Each one is different. (I have attached a pic of the two of them recently.... I really think a good food contributes to a healthy coat) Shelby 2.jpg Seymour 2.jpg Now we have them on Blue Buffalo. We stopped feeding RC when I noticed that they were getting a bit chubby (which was probably the corn) as they got older (over a year old). I would rather see a chubby puppy than a skinny one, but I do know that it isn't healthy for them to be overweight. Just a reminder....... when switching foods, do it gradually. Sometimes a quick change causes tummy problems!

| hello new puppy owner I totally understand. I have a 4 mo old female. She too is a finiky eater. I give her science diet small for puppies but I put the nutri-cal supplement on the nuggets to help sweeten the food. She needs it anyway until she's 1 yr old, so why not. I give my puppy 2 shot glasses full of food 3 x's a day. She doesn't always eat it all, but if you're worried about her, once in a while give her cooked white rice with boiled chicked chopped up in it. That will help her start eating. Good luck. |

| How much is 'not much'? How big is she? They have small tummies so they do eat very little at one time. My 4lber eats around 1/4 cup per day of RC YT. And as others mentioned, Science Diet is not a good choice. |

| I feed Suzi A food that is By Nature. She use to be fed Puppy chow, before i got her. Then i noticed her itching too much and she had dandruff. I wanted to feed her a better quality diet. This brand of food has No fillers. She eats it, no problems. I also give her the organic brand too, By Nature. My Fellings are , if a person is going to invest in a dog that costs so much, then the dog ought to be eating the best type of food , and recieve the best , quiality of care.

| Mine have their food down 24/7, so not sure how much they eat, they go grab a few kibbles when they're hungry. I have them on eukanuba naturally wild and they're doing really well on it |

| we feed nature's variety RAW medallions & instinct canned.. and ziwi peak canned & air dried raw.. along with a couple other RAW foods, randomly, as well. we do however leave kibble down 24-7, incase they DO get hungry in between their meals.. (& with Gemma being so little i want her to have it available) the kibble we feed is nature's variety instinct & innova evo. orijen is good, as well. the ones i listed above are all grain free, high protein. if you want a kibble, that is not so high in protein.. i would recommend Innova or Nature's Variety Prarie. you definitely want to read the label/ingredients and know what you are going to be feeding and why.. this explains what to look for, a bit.. because it can be confusing! How do you rate the dog foods? you want to look for a food that has no wheat, no soy, no corn, no by-products. with all the recalls it is very very scary! (like i said before, my girls don't eat much kibble, at all.. but i do have it available to them, just in case! ) good lucK!

| I'm in the same boat. I started out with Innova but it seemed like my guy wasn't eating much of it. After about 2wks I bought a small bag of "Chicken Soup for the Soul" for puppies. My dog is very attracted to the cats food so I started wondering if it was the smell/taste that attracted him. I think what I actually discovered is that he likes it fresh from the bag, not sitting out for a day or two. So now when I feed him I put a very small amount like 2 Tablespoons in his dish. This seems to be the trick for him because now he eats his Innova pretty heartily. Also the kitty has learned that his food has moved to an outta the way place so the puppy can't eat it. It would be nice if petfood companies would make sampler bags. |
