| Changing Dog Food I found a site where someone posted here about dog foods: How often should I change dog foods? I didn't think once you get your dog to eat a certain food that you should change, but this site says you should. What do you all do~? Lately, I've noticed my Yorkie nibbling and not really eating like he was. Maybe he's not feeling good since he is nibbling on the grass to my Hosta branches. I would go to Petsmart tonight but the wind is awful here. I just was there last night and got another bag of "Royal Cainine". Maybe it's time to change his food...what do you all think~? I've lost track on the bags, but it is like perhaps his 6th bag (small) of "Royal Cainie" I've bought. |

| I change Franklin and Maggie's food every 2-3 15lb bags. We change flavors first and when I've gone through all the flavors, we change brands. I think it's important for them to have variety, and also so that they do not develop an allergy. Just remember when you do decide to change that it should be done very slowly. Start by adding 1/4 new food to 3/4 old food. Then after a couple of days transition to 1/2 and 1/2 and finally 3/4 to 1/4. This should be done over the span of one or two weeks.

| I have some samples from earlier in the year of "Holistic Select" by Eagle Pack. Since he's only nibbled today, I put some in the dish and he sniffed and then he gobbled it down. The other one I have "Natural Choice" sample bag, he would do that. There is no different choices in "Royal Cainine" for Yorkshires, only "Indoor Dog" from what I have seen. Any suggestions~? |

| I don't know a lot about Eagle Pack but from what I've heard, it's a good food! I would go with that!

| Thanks~! I got it at the dog show when it was here in March, I believe. He was a puppy then. I gave it to him as a treat when we would play ball. Other than that he wouldn't eat it. He didn't eat a whole lot of it tonight...less than 1/4 cup. It was like a treat to him, I think. But lately, he is nibbling and eats around 10p a good amount of "Royal Canine"....or the last few nights I've noticed it. He will eat wet food I know and have even tried that out, but I know wet isn't good for their teeth. |

| I was also wondering about changing the food. I have a 3 month old girl. I find that she doesnt eat much. This is my first dog ever and I'm not sure if I just dont know how much do they eat. Or is it that she doesnt like the food. At the moment she is eating Royal Canin puppy 33. My friend told me to change it to Science that is what she feeds her dog. How much should a 3 month old yorkie eat? Do they get used to the food? |
