| Starting a new food... I have been feeding Lexi what the breeder recommended. After learning so much from everyone here, I have decided to switch to a healthier food. Lexi is free-fed kibble (with some of Cindy's Yorkie Yummies as treats!). How should I go about making the change? Over what period of time should the switch be made? And should I occasionally give a piece of the new kibble as a treat? Thanks for any advice or suggestions you may have! |

| When I've switched foods I've given the new kibble as a treat for a couple days - just to make sure they not only like it but that they can tolerate it. Then I do a few days of 1/4 new 3/4 old, few days of 1/2 and 1/2, few days of 3/4 and 1/4 and then all new. My switches take about 2 weeks unless I see upset tummies - then I slow it w-a-y down.
