| I got this mint toothpaste at Petsmart and my little guy loves it. He doesn't like a few other brands like Pet Dental.. I brush his teeth everyday and it definitely helps with his breath and tartar. You have to do it everyday though. If it's teeth are really bad she should get them cleaned.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Unless it's a puppy and it's teething, bad breath could be a sign of serious dental problems. You don't just want to cover up bad breath; you want to find out what's causing it. In an older dog, it could mean tartar and gum problems and a teeth scraping is necessary, or later tooth extraction will be needed. It could also mean digestion problems. Some dogs breathe through their mouths, and it's just a problem with certain short nosed breeds, but bad breath usually it requires a vet check to rule out anything serious.

| I was actually thinking it might be that. His breadth is just horrible!!! and that's putting it lightly. I don't know how to tell my room mate without offending her....

| Why should she be offended.. I am sure she can smell it too. Maybe she doesn't realize how dangerous it can be

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Some people think all dogs have bad breath, this isn't true of course, but they don't know it.

| I've only known my roommate for a short time but what I do know is she's one of those over appologetic people that takes every comment to heart. That's why I'm afraid of offending her. I don't want her to think I'm lecturing her on how to take care of a pet when I've never had one.

I would just say I read something interesting today on Yorkietalk. Have you looked at the teeth; do they look discolored, especially close to the gum line? Another thing, I use with Joey is Petzlife, it's said to soften tartar, and you can then later brush it away. I also use Bully sticks because they help scrape the teeth. Here's some information on periodontal disease: ACVC 2001 - Periodontal Disease in Dogs and Cats. Here's some information on Petzlife. PetzLife Products Inc - Products For a Healthier Pet

| I would a suggest a vet check too b/c it can also be a kidney problem... Besides all that it might be also caused by the food she feeds... |
