| Poop Eater??? I know its gross, but she will actually hide from me to poop around the corner of the house, so I follow around the corner and she sure enough has pooped and is eating it!!! Then if the bigger dog is out there and she poops, she waits at her rear end.... its so yucky and I dont even know what to so, can it hurt her, is there a way to stop it? I read somewhere that it could be due to the fact she isn't getting enough of the right nutrients, she only eats eukanuba puppy food, and she can eat all day, I keep it full.... Any advice?

| My Trixie does the same thing. Some have said to try pineapple, it makes their poop taste bad. I tried it but didn't work. Others have said to sprinkle meat tenderizer on their food. I use kibble so I don't know if I could sprinke something on it because it will fall to the bottom. She still does it I'm like a nut trying to follow her around waiting for her to finish so I could pick it up quick. It's gross and she likes to give kisses . What is wrong with them we spend all kinds of money on healthy dog food and thier eating their poop. She's killing me!! I'm hoping she will grow out of it. My pebby used to do it too when she was a baby (she's 9mos) Trixie is almost 4mos. Now pebby only does it once in a while. COCO PEBBLES TRIXIE |

| I've tried the pineapple, it worked for awhile...but now she's back to eating her poop. I'm going to try the meat tenderizer, hopefully that will end her poop eating days.

Thor's Human Donating Member | From what I understand, most dogs like poop, especially cat poop. It's one of those habits you hope never starts, because it can be very hard to stop. One of my friends pointed out that from the dog's point of view, it's like candy falls out of their butts. I'd recommend training the "leave it" command really, REALLY well.... Also, maybe you could try sound aversion, canned air, or a spray bottle with ice water. Something unpleasant enough that the dog gets permanently turned off the temptation. |

| It seems it is pretty common though. I just tell her "no" when she turns around. I always try to remember to bring a napkin out with me so I can pick it up right away. 1. I don't want her eating it 2. Don't want to hear hubby if he steps in it. Some say if they eat too fast they don't chew properly and it pretty much comes out like it goes in. COCO PEBBLES TRIXIE |

| Thanks for all the info. I hope she grows out of it. At least I am not the only one. She has been responding well to "drop it" for my kids toys so I try that and she runs with a mouth full! My bigger dog (Zoe) goes after cat poop but never her own. She isn't as bad anymore with the cat poop and I learned early on to keep on top of the cat box to curb that one.
