| Yay about kieles annual vaccines I went to get kieles annual vaccines this morning after putting it off. I actually seen the vet who owns the vet office. He was awesome. Well i didnt hear exactly what i wanted but i did hear better than i thought. I asked him on how he felt about over vaccinating and he said that he thinks some are being over vaccinated. He thinks its a personal preference. He says that i can definately give kiele shots every 3 years if i would like. He said he thinks i should do this year which was done this morning and then next year and then after that she should be good. He said then i can titer when i would like to see if she needs it. Which its not the exact response i wanted since he thinks i should get puppy( has already) 1st annual(got this morning) and then thinks i should get 2nd annual. but i did think he would be totally against the whole not annually vaccinating so thats really good. She has lost 2 pds since last time she was there for allergies. she was 8.3 now she is 6.5 so he said he thinks 7pds would be the perfect weight for her. so gotta up her food a little. he said the honest kitchen food just may have less calories so thats why she might have lost weight but he does want me to watch it. but over all a great visit!!!

| That's wonderful! I too have found a vet that does not believe in over vaccinating. He is very supportive of drawing titers to check immunity first. I love him! Too many vets, I think, tend to want to vaccinate for everything, every year, because that is their "bread and butter".

He said they have been getting a some older dogs that are been comin in with parvo and that it seems like the parvo virus is changing up a little bit. he said they dont have titers for that but he did say that he thinks after next years shots all it will be okay.

In fact, I've done it two years in a row. Idexx and Colorado State do it for sure...

| yeah i guess they dont have the ones for parvo or maybe he doesnt know they exist. He told me they have distemper ones though. He told me just to get shots again next year and then after that kiele should be fine. So hes not forcing me to get parvo shots every year at all.

The vet can draw blood and send it to an outside lab that does do parvo. It is a hard choice whether to just stop or to titer because none of it is the "perfect" way.
