| Yorkie Breath My baby is only 5 months old but she has awful, awful, breath I brush her teeth but it doesn't seem to get any better. It is so strong, I can tell when she comes into a room by the smell. What can I do? Do all yorkies have bad breath? Help!

| I'm sorry about her breath... Kingston's never had really bad breath at all. To be on the safe side we give him these dog bones called "Freshies" which get rid of plaque and tartar... plus he loves them She is probably still teething too at that age, so the bone would be good for her to gnaw on. Best of luck!

| Yorkie Breath No, she doesn't have double sets of teeth. And I don't see any tarter build up on them. Could it be a medical problem?

| Chloe has BAD breath also ( she is 8 mo. old) But she does have extra teeth that have to be removed. My vet said it was probably the cause of her problem. We brush her teeth and give her fresh "treats" and use teeth gel , so we are hoping one of those will work. My vet also asked if she was 'scooting ' on the floor , because she said if her glands were full , and she was licking herself that can cause bad breath also. Gross ,I know.

| teething makes their breath smelly! (if she's 5months.. she will probably be teething for a couple more months ) then when you go to get her spayed, the vet can remove any extra teeth that should have fallen out, but didn't!

| One of my Biewer girls had very bad breath when she was about 8 months. It turned out that she needed 19 baby teeth removed. Her breath has been much better since they were removed. Your pup seems awfully young to have breath that bad. And...he is too old to still have puppy breath. I would mention it to the vet just to be on the safe side.

| Yorkies are prone to dental problems and bad breath. When i first got Bridgette I thought I was going to pass out every time she got close to me. I took her to the vet they gave me doggie mouth wash, she absolutely hates it. She panicks when I give it to her. She was already 3 years old when we got her and her teeth looked almost black, the vet said "wow she has nice teeth" i said "really??" Anyway if you feed human food or soft canned dog food it can contribute to the problems. I feed only dry kibble. I mix it with canned about once a month as a treat. And she eats a lot of greenies and the tiny little beef flavored Dingo rawhide bones. Her tarter build up has reduced a lot and she does not have bad breath at all anymore. I also brush her teeth every bath day, about once a week. Make sure you are feeding dry kibble only, and any chewies help clear up tartar and bad breath. Nothing to be concerned about. Good luck!

| It must be her teeth. I know it's not puppy breath. I've been brushing her teeth every other day and it doesn't help. I'll let you know what the vet says.

| yup Ya my little guy had the same problem!! He is 7 months and we just took him to the doctor and they pulled 5 teeth and there is still 1 molar that we are taking out in a couple weeks. And I know that was the smell from his mouth. It smells 100 times better than it did, it still kind of smells but not nearly as bad as it did. Now I dont mind the kisses. The vet also gave me this breath spray. I use it on my other guy too, its kind of like mouthwash that we have but its for dogs Works Great!! I would for SURE take your furbaby in and get some teeth pulled!! I am pretty sure thats the problem. Sometimes you cant see the teeth if they do have baby teeth, because they might have some in the back that you cant see!! good luck

| Olivia is 8 yrs old...and her breath is awful! I know what you mean - I can smell when she is in the room (yuk). I've only had her 2 months and didn't notice it at first but now it seems to be getting worse daily. She is on raw diet (same food her previous owners were giving her) and today I began introducing Oerjen (sp?) kibble, thinking maybe that would help. She is a retired breeder and has lost several teeth already. She doesn't have baby teeth, but could her teeth be causing her bad breath?

| Guess what? I took Abby to the vet today and it is her baby teeth causing all the funk! I can't even see them, but they are going to pull them Tuesday. I'm so glad she didn't have any medical problems. She will be six months old next week and she weighs in at a whopping 2 lbs.

| The vet told me to look at their teeth close to the gum, if it is green or blackish on the teeth they have to be cleaned or they smell awful. Sounds like that is going to be the problem!
