| Help - My Baby has no fur Hello everyone, I took my baby to be spayed this past Friday. Although I was very worried, everything went very well with the surgery. While I was there I had asked them if they could either brush out a few mats that Katie had or if they could cut them out while she was sleeping. She does not like being brushed and had a few mats (not alot) like under her legs and a little mat on top of her head. I had not wanted to hurt her and did not feel she was old enough to go to the groomer yet (just turned 5 months and only 2.9 lbs) - so I figured this was a good oportunity. Well, guess what - they totally shaved ALL of her hair, with the exception of her ears. She looks like a reindeer. Her black puppy coat is gone, the hair on her body now looks sorta grayish. I am freaked out. When will her hair grow back - please tell me it will grow back. Thanks for listening to me vent........ Patti |

| LOL sorry for the chuckle but when you said she looked like a reindeer I had never thought of that discription before. I bet she looks adorable. I have shaved Buddy down for a couple of years now and he looked adorable. It won't be long before she grows back. Just keep her warm on the walks. You may even get to like it. I shaved the back and left the hair long on the head, face and legs. Even let the tail grow about three inches. I did get lot's of compliments on his cut I will admit. I cut him way down all over and now am letting him grow all winter. We'll see how it looks in the spring. You'll get use to it, I hope. But it will grow back in, that's the good thing. |

| I always get my pups shaved when they are 5 - 6 mos old. The adult fur starts to grow out and the mix of puppy fur and adult fur tend to matt easily. One good thing about the shave your baby got is that the adult fur won't have puppy fur to matt with. You still have to brush every day, and it is VERY common for pups to hate brushing. You need to do it anyway (even if you have to hold them down to do it...lol) and you'll be surprised at how they'll have a complete turn-around and come running when you pick up a brush. Mine fight over who gets to be brushed. Sammie was the toughest to get use to it, but she just lays in my lap now and lets me brush while watching TV. Keep you comb next to where you sit and just do a little at a time until you can do it longer and longer. If you skip a day and they start matting again, they will learn to hate it again, because it hurts. So it's real important to brush daily. It does get easier. If your schedule doesn't allow daily brushing, the shorter cuts are easier to control and really cute! Good luck!

Yorkie Talker | Bald baby My baby had her first grooming two months. She was matted alot. She did not like to be brushed. The groomer I took her to was wonderful. She told me she would work to get the mats out. She called a couple of hours later and said that Bella was more matted than she thought, and she would do what I wanted....either shave her or get the mats out. Well we really didn't want to shave her so we said do what you can. She said "I promise I won't hurt her." She called back 2 hours later and said that Bella couldn't take any more. She was only working on in 10-15 minute segments so as not to overstress her. So I relented and said "Okay shave her". It was the best thing. First of she kept her face look. Yeah, she looked like a little lion cub, or like my husband said "the little dog in the Grinch Stole Christmas" lol. Now two months later her hair is coming in nicely. It's not the way it was, but it is growing in. She was much happier, because I guess when they are wet and matted the blow drying causes the mats to get tighter and it hurts. So don't worry, the hair will grow in. Just comb your baby every day. I give my baby little treats while I'm combing her, because she does not like to sit still for it. |

YT 2000 Club Member | aww poor baby.. it will grow back faster than you think On a side note.. the early you start them at the groomers the faster they adjust. My 11 week old baby just went yesterday and he did great!!

| Oh and I had my girl shaved about a month ago and at first it was such a shock and I hated it. Then as the days went on I got used to it and now I love it. Give it a couple of days and you may like the cut better
