Weird poop/diarrhea Just a warning, Yuki had a weird poop tonight so I am going to describe it. I hope it doesn't gross anyone out. I am just hoping to get some advice or insight as to what it might be.... Tonight while I was eating dinner I noticed that Yuki wasn't around. It turns out she had diarrhea in my room and was hiding under the bed. When I went to go clean it up I noticed that it had the color/consistency of sweet and sour sauce. I also noticed there were some long stringy things in it, similar to thin rice noodles. I know this sounds gross but I wrapped it up in a paper towel and put it in a Ziplock bag, just in case I have to take it to the Vet for testing. She has been acting normal the whole night and has been drinking water and eating her food. I was out of town for the weekend and my roommates said that they didn't feed her anything other than her dog food and the occasional treats. The only treats she gets are Pup-peroni, dehydrated chicken jerky, and an occasional meal-bone. My brother in law thinks it could be chicken tendons that expanded after eating the chicken jerky. I am going to wait and see how her other bowel movements turn out before I decide to take her to the vet. Has anyone else experienced something like this? P.S. Today is Yuki's 3rd birthday!

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Gosh, I don't know - but did they look like worms at all? It is VERY smart that you saved the poo (I always did that too) so you can show the vet exactly what happened. The mucous is a definite sign of irritation. Unless her poo has returned to normal right away (meaning she's purged the offending thing), I'd get the sample in to the vet.

I have an update - it look over 24 hrs but she had a normal poo tonight . So I guess that is a good sign. I will keep monitoring her though - I am taking her to the vet on Saturday to get her shots so I will be sure to ask the vet about it.

make sure your dehydrated chicken is not from China (most are). Nothing but bad news from dog products from China, especially chicken jerky. Glad her poop is back to normal...great description (hehe).

I checked the chicken jerky and it is made in China. I guess I didn't think to check before I bought the bag (it's from Costco).

I made the same mistake. I bought chicken jerky from the best bully website, fed it to Ted, found out all the horrible stories about chicken from China and then checked the bag MADE IN CHINA. I was furious. Guess we just can't assume it's safe cause it's sold here in reputable places. Don't take the chance, just throw it away. Hope all is well.

even though the poo is back to normal, what you describe sounds like worms to me. maybe you should save a new poo sample also and go to the vet. sorry to be a debbie downer

Weird poo Sometimes when my dog poops, I've noticed that its really thin... like a toothpick. I know there's nothing in his stomach cause after a few hours he will poop and it is normal size...? What gives?? Should I be concerned?

for the past two days, charlie has weird poops too. Yesterday, his poop has something strange in it. It look like wood dust (the kind of wood dust after you saw a piece of wood)..there was a lot of it in his poop. This morning, the amount seems to go down. it is mixed in with his poop instead of a whole bunch by itself like last night.
