| 9 month female yorkie with mvd and high bile acid test what to do She won't eat and really won't play weighs 3.8 lbs. Breeder won't refund me money or help with vet bills. She is suppose to be full blooded yorkie but she is chihuahua mix I believe. |

| Ouch....I'm so sorry....poor puppy must be feeling horrible. Where did you get her from? Did the breeder advertise her as a pure Yorkie breed?

| What tests were done to diagnose MVD and rule out a large shunt? What food is she on? How many times a day is she fed? Does she have "any" symptoms whatsoever? What supplements is she on? Does she normally have a good appetite? If you can't afford vet bills, maybe Care Credit could help you.

| Yes she was advertised as full blooded. Bile acid test. Tried science diet, eukanuba, and puppy chow. On nutri stat and omegas. Will eat eggs, rice, and chicken but have to hand feed. |

| Try to feed 3 times a day but no luck. Will only play for about 5 minutes and lays down and is so life less and goes to sleep. Very jumpy we hears the smallest noise. Very sad. Need financial help to help her but don't know where to get help |

Is this just plain puppy chow? Why isn't she on a diet for liver compromised dogs and Denosyl or Vetri DMG? She is having any symptoms except not wanting eat? No neurologic symptoms at all?

More than likely she doesn't want to eat because with certain foods, toxins build up and make her feel sick. If she is that lethargy, a large shunt needs to be ruled out.

Low protein food (try Science Diet L/D canned or Royal Canin Hepatic LS 14 dry (the second is very palatable but can make Yorkies itchy). You might end up needing to force her to eat. Denosyl or Vetri DMG everyday Lactulose 3 times a day to produce two soft but formed bowel movements Vitamin E (400 IU would be fine) Omegas are good also Milk Thistle (Hepato Support is a good one but others will work also) And did your vet have you put her on regular puppy chow and not tell you to use these other things?

This food will just make her problem worse. Lactulose will help bind the toxins and they will come out with her bowel movements.
