| kennel cough I have a 15 month old and he has just had his booster vaccines,my vet recommended the kennel cough vaccine (intranasal) as i do board a bit in the summer and also use the groomer regularly..i went ahead with the vaccine and Harley has been sneezing on and off since, which i understand is normal. My question is, is this vaccine really necessary and are there any harmful side effects.

Donating YT 10K Club Member | I guess the worse side effect would be dogs tend to come down with the illness after receiving the nasal vaccine. Personally I don't get bordatello vaccines because they are largely ineffective. Dogs get the illness even after being vaccinated because there are many strains of the virus.

They can get the disease with or without the vacccine depending on the strains they were vaccinated for. They can also get it from the vaccine...

| bordetella is fine. it usually lasts for 6 months, and it takes a full 24 hours to get in your dogs system, if dont intranasally. I don't get my dogs that vaccine unless they are being groomed, doggie day care, boarding, or going on an airplane!
