| Fleas! Please help! Rocky is my first Yorkie and though I have had him for 2 years now I am still learning all things yorkie. Recently he has come across a lot of fleas. My husband and I have moved so now he goes outside to play, so I assume he has gotten them there. However, the problem is not just one or 2 fleas, he is LOADED with them. When i first saw them I bathed him and a couple days later I applied the topical medicine. It has been 3 weeks since then and my husband and I just found around 10 fleas on his little body. I cant imagine how horrible it must feel for him. Now I have no idea what to do. I read about dawn soap, but I was contemplating taking him to the groomers for a full shave, but Im not sure that will work. Any suggestions?? Thanks in advance! |

| I have had dogs my whole life and the only one that has ever had fleas is my Yorkie! They must be flea magnets!!! Any way I just washed him with his normal shampoo and then wet him down with home made flea dip I made buy boiling garlic and rosemary then straining it through a piece of cloth and letting it cool. About 1 tbs of each in 2 cups of water. He hasn't gotten them back but it is cold here now. It makes him smell a little funny but not too bad. |

| Oh dear! I feel you on this one...Fiona had fleas for an ENTIRE MONTH and a half...she has been flea free for about 3 weeks now! It was a royal pain in the you know what! I don't think we had them in the house, more so from outside, and since she was 6 months at that time, I didn't have her on any prevention, so she was an easy target....we did everything from using a spray bottle with 50 % water and 50% white vingear, dawn dish soap, johnson and johnsons baby shampoo, flea/tick shampoo, borax on the carpet, then a flea/tick spray...fleas were just really bad this year, so good luck! I had to get the vet to give me Capstar which is a pill them kills them from the inside out, and i gave her the 2nd dose last week, and thats what i think killed them all! its a pain, and im with you on it!

| If he had that many they are most likely in your carpet and you are going to have to treat it also

| I hope this helps.I live in a house that has no and I mean no carpet.Tile and small through rugs.I have found that the products that have insecticide in them are bad for the dogs and our world.Being a nurse i found that some of these items have side effect. Our one dog was given a product, with in 2-4 hours he was sitting unable to move, this was due to the product,so we think using the DAWN SOAP,they used it in oil slicks in Alaska on the ducks, and these are enviromentalist. You might have to wash your kids, but if you do this ,our world and our kids will live better. Thanks hope we can find a good place to come together......Thanks Cath54 |

| after showering him about 3 days later he had fleas again. I washed his bed and my bed, vacuumed everything and there are no rugs in my house, all tile, so i dunno what else to do. The vet suggested I shave him, but I was kinda hoping I didn't have to do that:-/ |

YT 3000 Club Member | I saw on the internet about some stuff called cedarcide which is for animals, house and the grass. Fleas do not like cedar and euclyptysus. I run a flea comb through chester almost daily, you can put some vaseline on the comb and they cannot jump off. You can put some soap and water in a container and put it by a light the fleas go for the light jump in the soap and water and cannot get out. Fleas like to hang out where your pet has been their bedding etc and vacum the crooks and crevices. Good Luck |

| Comfortis Has anyone had their baby have a reaction to Comfortis? One of my best friends bought LuLu's sister and gave her Comfortis for the fleas. She ended up in the emergency hospital. So...when my vet suggested it to me, I told him about "Priss" and he said it would be better to NOT give it to LuLu. So....I, too, tried the Frontline....but nothing is working. It is a daily battle. Has anyone found anything other than Comfortis that works?
