| Science Diet vs. Innova Okay, I never thought I would be comparing these two foods but Tatum has some issues right now that look like she'll require a blander diet for a while. She'll be 5 years old in February and has been on Innova most of her life. We have never had problems with it. But she has had some kind of bacterial tummy bug that she just has been having a hard time getting over. The vet thinks they are separate incidents but does say that she needs to have a blander diet for a little longer than I gave it last time to really let her system heal. I don't agree with his choice of Science Diet but do agree that sometimes the prescription ones are needed for one thing or another. When Tatum is eating the canned I/D (for digestive issues), she has no problem. I think though that we went back to the Innova maybe a little too quickly the last time she had this diarrhea/vomiting issue. So my question is..... this time he wants her on the I/D for a couple weeks (and according to the ingredients listing I've found, the canned has better ingredients than the dry) - after she's all better, is there another food that's as good as Innova but is on the blander side like the I/D? Anyone have a sensitive stomach dog that needs a food like that?? Oh, and no.... the vet does not think it's pancreatis (sp?) or anything else serious but is reserving judgement and more expensive tests for after we give this round of medicine a try.

| Most dog foods are really far from bland. If I/D is the only food that she feels well on, I would be giving it too. California Natural uses limited ingredients but I'm not sure how rich it is. If you are willing to homecook, maybe a hypoallergenic fish diet would help.

| One other thing.... I've looked at the ingredients for the canned and the dry. The canned ingredients look a little bit better but I'm not crazy about giving canned food long-term. Had a bad experience with my poodle's teeth due to canned food. So if any of you are really familiar with Science Diet I/D, maybe you can tell me if the dry is really as "not so good" as it looks? By that I mean, I don't think it's so "bad", per say, but it could be better and I wonder if it's comparable to the canned ingredients.

| Yes, I've done that and have it narrowed down. I guess now I'm just waiting to see if anybody else has a pup with gastro issues that is now feeding Wellness and which one works best for them.

| I've read about quite a few problems with excessive stool (and maybe even loose stool) having to do with Yorkies on Wellness. Maybe their ocean fish food would be better but I think it is higher protein.

| Well, we certainly don't want loose stools anymore. That poor baby has had her full share of that mess! Has anyone else heard this? Is the high protein count what causes this problem? Someone suggested the Wellness CORE as a mid-protein one.

| I was going to suggest california Natural. That food is simple and to the point. It would make things a lot easier to figure out if it is the food.
