| Living with 3/4 Grade Patella Luxation? I was wondering if anyone here with furbaby(ies) living actively with PL grade 2 and over without surgery? if so, how old at the time of the diagnose? and hold old now? My baby was diagnosed at 9wks. she shows some favor every now and then w/the worser of the 2 hind leg. Any change in diet? to help with the conditions? thx! |

Have you consulted with an Board Cert. Ortho Specialist yet? This is what I would be doing if she were mine...and if they recommended surgery, than that is the route I would go.... I helped rescue a 7 yr that obviously had a severe case of LP that was left untreated. The result was her knee grew and fused crooked and she has NO use of the portion of her leg from the knee down. She has to carry that leg in the air at all times, very unnecessary weight and very sad, as this girl could have had use of all four legs Best of luck and I hope it all can work out Last edited by TLC; 11-12-2008 at 01:09 PM. | |

| Sammy had surgery on both knees with grade 3 and I'd do it again. She has better posture and a better range of motion. I never sensed she was in pain, but she had learned to walk funny, almost with her knees locked. She also sat in a goofy position. They learn to adapt, but the surgery is extremely successful so I would definitely see a specialist about it in a few months. They will tell you what age is ideal for surgery and take x-rays. A good surgeon would not recommend surgery unless it would be helpful.
