Teething Puppy Hello, So my yorkie puppy is a few days away from 6 months and has recently not been eating his food. He had a runny nose and needed a shot so I took him to the vet. He noticed his teeth were loose and pulled 3 right out and explained that that's probably why he wasn't eating. All else looked healthy. My dog still isn't eating, I've tried softening up his diet for a few days mixing his regular pedigree puppy food with some of the same but canned. He's still not eating a whole lot. Is this normal during teething or does he just not like his food? Also, what is a good brand of solid food for yorkies. He definately likes the canned food better, but I don't want him to get used to it. I want to find a solid that he likes. I'm on pedigree now simply because that's what his breeder had him on.

well you definitly need to change foods. Pedeigree is full of fillers and bi products. Try a brand like Wellness, Solid Gold, Nature's Variety or natural Balance. There is nothing wrong with wet foods- they are simply LESS processed because they still have their liquids. As long as you are brushing his teeth and giving him good things to chew on- his teeht should be fine. Will he eat his wet food? Will he eat treats? How is his energy? Is he peeing and pooping normal? HOw much does he weigh?

He loves the canned food. His energy level has been up and down the last week. He used to scarf down his food and now he just nibbles and walks off and will come back to it later. But the canned food seems to be helping get more down. He's been pottying like normal. So I'm guessing the teething is what's the problem.
